I usually sew at medium speed. Too OCD for anything much faster. Great tutorial on bias binding. I usually try the square to parralelogram method but sometimes confuse the pieces after cutting even though I mark them. Your turning the cut edges to the center I can now remember. Very helpful. Also wanted to share that I use one of the many conversion tables available online to decide what size square to cut for the length of binding required. Baglady in Richmond,VA

  8. Beverly Hughed says:

I usually sew at medium speed unless going around curves, then I switch to slow speed.

    1. Lønne Hundebøll says:

The speed of my symaskine depends on how hard I’m pushing my foot, it’s not quite often, I’m driving at full speed, probably the most average speed

  13. Joyce Dove says:

I am happy I caught your “show” close to it’s original date, much more fun to then contribute or know what sewers are talking about during the week! I also do not know of another person (dude or dudette) that sews a thing. People who have found out have even asked me how to sew on a button. Funny how people will google almost anything else but…sewing? You really sew things? My answer is , “No, not things, clothes, tops, tee shirts, pants, shorts, dresses, coats!” I had sewn small pouches & love your mini-kins, but had never sewn a BAG!!! Now that I found you, I will be able to add “bag” to my repertoire! I never say “quilts”, cause most are for my family, very close friends and I have given them away to certain groups….and I would love to have time to sew for myself & continue to enjoy sewing! Thank you for your inspiration, I love that you & Danny are so down to earth. I am now a regular watcher & will post my first finished “bag”. I know it’s not Sunday but I also sew at a medium speed so I don’t make to bad of a mistake on my fabric or my fingers! See you next time!

  20. Lorrie Lubecki says:

The speed I sew depends on what I’m sewing. If I, sewing a bag it’s usuallu at a slower speed. If I’m sewing a quilt or clothing, it at the high speed!

  21. Sonia Munoz says:

Hi Sara and Danny, I leave my machine on medium even though I sew slow, because I’ve been sewing about a year and a few months. I do move it to slow when I want to sew a part that’s difficult, like for example rounded corners.

P.S. I enjoy watching you and your family. Danny is so funny lol. Thank you for sharing and for your patience. You have no idea I much you helped and inspire me. Oh, and say hi to violet for me…she’s adorable!

  22. Bridget Vian says:

    Hello Sara and Danny!
I leave my machine set on the fast setting, but control the speed with my foot pedal. Sometimes I accidentally move the speed setting and then get momentarily angry that the speed is too slow! I never even think about making it slow for harder parts… maybe I should.

  23. Kim C says:

I love to go as fast as possible!

  24. Melanie Parker says:

I sew at medium speed unless there’s a really tough corner or curve, then it’s slow speed!

  25. Sarah Kuchera says:

I find that slow and steady wins the race (or should I say gets the bag done)

  26. Susan Olexa says:

My sewing speed depends on what I’m working on-top stitching is always slow, long pants seams usually fast.
