Sweet Talk Bag

Windy City Bags - Sweet Talk Bag sewing pattern

Moving along, this is the third bag in my new book Windy City Bags, out December 1, 2015. It is available on Amazon and in my pattern shop (books purchased from my shop will be signed by me, ship for free in the U.S. and with discounted international shipping, and you’ll receive a FREE paper pattern from my shop of your choice, an $11 value!).

Windy City Bags by Sara Lawson

This is the Sweet Talk Bag, I suppose a retro-inspired bag complete with a retro-inspired fabric. I used a Melody Miller fabric from before her Cotton+Steel days. I really enjoy using a fabric print combined with a solid fabric, and this bag is no different. I think the orange solid is really striking with the clock.

Besides the magnetic snap that serves as the bag closure, there are also additional magnetic snaps at the top of each side panel. Those side magnetic snaps serve to neatly cinch that side in. When the bag is overly-full, those side snaps can be released. There is a zipper in the lining and o-rings serve to attach the strap to the bag. That top panel has an extra bit of interfacing to make it stiff and stand up on its own.

This second sample was made and pattern-tested by Jacqueline. She used a fabric by Frances Newcombe with this great zebra print, and a pink solid really makes everything pop!

I hope you liked the Sweet Talk Bag! Lots more fun bag previews from my book are coming soon for the rest of this month!

Great bag, shapely design as ever-really like the wide open boxy shape when open. Love Frances Newcombe fabric too. 😉 I just realized I’ve been spelling her name wrong for a while now. Good lord.
