Woodson Bag

This is the Woodson Bag, perhaps one of my favorites from my new book Windy City Bags, out December 1, 2015. Perhaps the reason that it is one of my favorites is because of the horse fabric that I chose for the main bag, perhaps it’s the shape of the bag, or maybe it’s those cool grommets that I used to insert the straps through. While this bag has several things going on, it’s not terribly fussy or time-consuming. The bag has a recessed zipper closure at the top and a curvy flap and pocket on the front of the bag. Besides the grommets (which I found in the curtain section of my local fabric shop), the only other bit of purse hardware you’ll need to make this bag is the magnetic snap, which is very commonly found.

For me personally, I really enjoying carrying this size of bag. It fits a lot of things while still having different sections for your stuff (that front pocket would be great for your cell phone!). My sample bag was made with Melody Miller ‘Mustang’ fabrics, which was a canvas-weight fabric (quilting cottons in a similar design are also available).

My pattern tester, Anna from Charmed Liebling, made this second version in a great Tula Pink fabric from my stash; this is from her ‘Prince Charming’ line, and I just love the storyteller theme of this fabric.
