Cavalcade Travel Bag

Here is a look at the Cavalcade Travel Bag. I bought a few yards of a special fabric to make one of my Cavalcade Travel Bags in, as I plan to make a travel set (including but not limited to the Kanga Supply Roll and Gloss Cosmetic Bag from Minikins Season Two).

An online workshop is available to purchase for this pattern, watch the trailer below:

Online Workshop Length – 2 hours 33 minutes

This travel bag is a fantastic way to keep yourself organized on your next trip or outing! The main compartment of the bag is secured with the top zipper, and a second zipper near the bottom of the bag will allow you to stow other items separately, such as shoes. The bag also includes front handles and a removeable side adjustable strap.

The pdf pattern includes 15 pages of sewing instructions, complete with 47 step-by-step color photos. Also included in the PDF pattern are printable pattern pieces for your home printer. The following files will all be included with your PDF pattern purchase:

  • SVG Files (for electric cutting machines, such as the Brother Scan N Cut and the Cricut Maker)
  • Projector Files (for use with home projectors for cutting out fabric; please see the group Projectors for Sewing for more information)
  • A0 Files (large-format 33″ x 46″ pattern page for printing at your local copy shop, in case you would rather not tape together the pattern pages that are included in the PDF pattern)

Finished Size: 20” long x 13” tall x 6” deep (50cm x 33cm x 15cm)

Optional acrylic templates are available for this pattern, in case you’d like to quickly cut out the fabric and interfacing that are needed for the project. This is especially helpful for those that make and sell pouches for craft fairs or Etsy shops.

Thank you to Chera for her lovely Cavalcade Travel Bag photos. Please check out Chera’s Instagram here.

And you can find the Cavalcade Travel Bag pattern and video now in my shop.

  1. The fabric – is it quilting cotton? Your print – can you name the manufacturer and print name? I absolutely love it! Would vinyl coated canvas work for the bottom section? Thanks! I love your patterns!

Hi there! Here’s a link to the fabric: https://www.hawthornesupplyco.com/collection-name-fabric-collection-by-designer-name/bowers-of-flowers-single-border-in-teal/D282C2384D71/ Thank you!

    Hi,
I was just wondering if this pattern would be suitable for a semi-beginner sewer. Because I absolutely LOVE it, and would like to make one for my husband. Also, do you think the bottom would fit a pair of size 14 men’s shoes?
    Thanks!

    1. Sara Lawson says:

Hi Jennifer! While this is probably subjective, the Cavalcade wouldn’t necessarily pop in my head as something to suggest for a beginner, although especially with the video and if you take the pattern one section of the instructions at a time, it could be possible. I’m not sure how big the size 14 men’s shoes are, but the bottom portion of the bag is 20″ long x 6″ deep and the bottom section is about 3-1/4″ high. Thank you and have a beautiful day!
