My Second Book!

Windy City Bags by Sara Lawson

My second book, Windy City Bags, is nearly here! I’m so excited!! The book releases December 1, 2015 and is available for pre-order through Amazon (affiliate link) and also in my pattern shop (books ordered in my shop will be signed by me, ship for free in the U.S. and with discounted international shipping, and I will include for FREE one paper pattern of your choice, an $11 value!). Just in time for the holidays!

Throughout the month of November, I’ll be sharing with you photos of all of the 12 projects in the book, as well as telling you a bit about each one.

I’m also ecstatic because this time, all non-rectangular pattern pieces will be on a pull-out page at the back of the book!

My thorough instructions in the book will be accompanied by easy-to-understand illustrations, like the illustrations above. If you’re used to my patterns with my step photos, I think you’ll be just as comfortable working with the illustrations, they’re beautifully done.

Something new in my second book are some additional helpful hints (just like the helpful hints in my patterns!) under the heading of ‘Sara Says’. I went to a trade show last year, and my publisher’s photographer, Brent Kane, who photographed all of the projects, went to the show to take some lifestyle photos of me wearing some of my handmade clothing. It was a lot of fun (except for when I half fell down several stairs…darn fancy shoes). While I know a book is not exactly like me teaching a pattern to you in person, hopefully you can imagine me cheering you on in your sewing room while you sew!

Bagmaking-techniques-1

Besides all of the projects, there are also chapters at the back of the book on bag interfacing and on different techniques and hardware installation (zippered pockets, magnetic snap installation, etc). Here’s an example of the part of the book dealing with how to install purse feet into the bottom of your bag.

Thanks so much for reading and I look forward to showing you all of the projects this month! Don’t forget to check out Windy City Bags on Amazon or in my pattern shop!
