Lily’s Quilts Dresden Plate Quilt Along

So I was already planning a couple of quilts to start next, when this lovely blog that I follow, Lily’s Quilts, announced the start of a Dresden Plate quilt along. Heck, sign me up!

I would so love to buy new fabrics for this quilt, but there’s no money left in this month’s $25 sewing budget, so I’m going to be working from my Echino scraps. Hopefully it will look okay, and I also hope that the decor-weight fabrics don’t make it too tough to assemble the blocks.

  1. oh scrummalicious! I was going to go for the echino too but I just can’t bear to cut into them! This is going to look fantastic … can’t wait to see more 🙂

you are killing me Sara! you are so motivated! This is going to look great! I love doing dresdens. They are surprisingly easy. It takes more time to cut all the pieces out than anything. In my opinion.

I’m jealous of that Echino stash! I hope it works out with the decor weight as well, but I think it’ll look great.

  4. Wow – look at those “scraps” what a fabulous selection – and make sure you have the new version of the dresden leaf template before cutting 🙂

I was thinking of trying that one myself which would be the first one I’ve ever joined since wanting to learn to quilt. I admire the way you put all the fabrics together. I’m from that old school where my Mom more years ago than I want to admit used to beat into my head not to mix stripes and solids and checks and yea anything that didn’t match. I am having SUCH a hard time overcoming that mindset. 🙁
