A Love Dress

Another dress finished to wear to Quilt Market in a couple of weeks! You might recall the Typewriters Dress that I finished last week, using Kay Whitt’s Serendipity Studio Monique Dress pattern (with a circle skirt substituted). I made 2 additional dresses, and this is one of them (the other I’ll photograph for you another day, I was sort of disgusted with my hair today and too lazy to do anything about it!).

I used Amy Butler Love Paradise Garden in Midnight, which is a home decor weight fabric. The waistband is also Love, but it’s a quilting cotton called Sun Spots in Mint. I am really enjoying the look and feel of the heavier weight fabric for a dress. The circle skirt falls so nicely.

The more times you re-create a pattern, the easier it goes! Definitely the case with these dresses, I feel like I zipped through them. I got a new pattern in the mail yesterday, the Serendipity Studio Kimono Dress, which I am going to make into a top. I cut the fabric for it last night…I’m using some Anna Maria Horner voile. I have a really good feeling about this pattern…if it works out how I think it will, I have more fabric washed and ready to go for a few more versions (same fabric, different colorways, lol!).

just lovely Sarah! I have a very similar dress aesthetic and I’ve been meaning to get back to garment sewing. (A great way to use yardage!) But I really want to have a serger!

Really beautiful dresses are they easy to make. I can sew but never seem to get things to fit me properly. You will look very Chic at market.

I love that fabric and I have two bags made from it. I never had pictured using it in clothing but your dress came out so cute! You look great in it.
