Today’s post is from Nancy.

Hi Everyone!!  My name is Nancy and I’m thrilled to be here- thanks Sara for having me!!  I hope you have been enjoying the Dress Up Party as I am.  There are some fabulous seamstress makes and patterns!!!!  I have a few now added to my growing list of makes.

P4P EE

When Sara asked me if I’d like to participate, I jumped at the chance.  Seeing that school is ending, I can enjoy things again (BIG GRIN!).  I will admit, that I am partial to indie patterns vs. the big four.  They fit me better (and now I have time to learn to alter a pattern), instructions are clearer for me and love the support (sew alongs, Facebook groups, videos, emails, etc.).  I must say it was daunting to choose which indie and then which pattern!!  I went with Pattern for Pirates (P4P)- by Judy Hale, the Everyday Elegance top tunic.

With the nice weather descending upon us (and needing something nice non-t-shirt), I was dying to make one. I live in tunics and flowy shirts in warm weather, so perfect timing and pattern choice.  The pattern is listed as beginner / intermediate.  3/4 sleeves with button tabs (really loving this style lately) with multiple variations for the collar, hem and belt.  The PDF is easy to put together.

This is my first time making this shirt so no alterations were done (my bad- no muslin made); I went with a medium based on my high bust measurement.  Now having made many of her other patterns, I knew a medium would be spot on, but like everything else since I’m only 5’2” (so I say), I knew it would be long.  I left it the original length, which I kind of like.  The fabric is a lovely drape double gauze (? store- so I won’t guess) with an awesome print.

Yup totally barefoot!!!

Some fast twisting action- you can’t really see it but there is a terrific yoke & inverted pleat back there!!

It was a perfect shirt for the breezy cool day and my horsing around while looking good!

insides

Even the insides are a lovely finish- a great detail!

The directions and accompanying picture tutorial were a dream (especially for a visual person like me!).  A great pattern, lovely fabric and a beautiful finish makes this a hit -THUMBS UP!  Thank you again Sara for inviting me to the party!!!
