I’m excited to introduce you to the 5th free project and video to go along with our Sew Sweetness Book Club discussion.
Before you begin watching the video, please download the free Persimmon Dumpling Pouch PDF Pattern here: PATTERN – Persimmon Dumpling Pouch
If you have an electric cutting machine, here are the SVG Files for the Persimmon Dumpling Pouch. Many thanks for Michelle Graham for preparing the SVG files. Persimmon Dumpling Pouch – SVG Files
The Persimmon Dumpling Pouch PDF Pattern comes in 3 sizes (small, medium, and large) and comes together quickly. You can either make it in patchwork as instructed in the pattern, or you can make your pouch all in one fabric.
For my samples, I used African waxed canvas purchased from Crimson Tate, and also Me+You batik fabrics by Hoffman Fabrics.

I didn’t get a chance to read all the books, but I really enjoyed the ones I did read. Thank you for organizing this event. I hope you will do this again in the future. It is great to have new projects and new authors to read.
Sara Sweety you are a bit of sanity and civility in a crazy world.

This is such an awesome pattern! Thank you for sharing this with us!
Thank you for all the patterns today!
Thank you for the free pattern and video. I recently ordered a scrap bag (for string quilts) and they sent some cute novelty prints I didn’t want to cut up. Ha, ha, a light bulb moment ! Your Dumpling Pouch came to mind. Oh my, didn’t realize it was free. Wowser ! Thank you again for all you do ! 🙂
Thank you so much for your pattern and video.
Good day ma, really want to make this bag with soft and stable, but the cost of shipping to my country is very high. What do I do?
Hello Gloria! In a pinch you can use Thermolam or fleece (or even batting). The structure will be a little bit different than the foam, but will work for this project. Thank you!
Hi Sara, I just finished making the medium dumpling pouch and came out SUPER cute, I’ll try to see how to put the picture in your FB group. Loved your video and detailed instructions, it’s my first time making this type of project and was easy to make.
I do have a question, I think the lining looks a little big, do you think next time I should cut lining a little smaller that the outside fabric?
Thanks for sharing
Hi Sara…I really enjoyed your video to make this pouch! Question…may I ask what sewing machine you use in the video? It sure seems to handle thicknesses very well! Thanks for the free pattern and tutorial!
Sara, I just finished my first dumpling pouch and found your tutorial excellent! It helped a lot to see you doing each step. Now I have an adorable pouch to keep my makeup when traveling! Thank you!
Fab pattern thank you. Very clear video, I need videos so very much appreciated
I tried to print off your free pattern but all that printed was the first page, (the picture of the bag). I would love to make it.
Hello Ivana, I sent you an email. Thank you!
Hi Sara I just love your bags and thank you for our generosity with the free patterns! You mention one size zip ie 51cm, is this for all three bags each or can one use a zip size to correspond with the bag size. In which case would would those zip lengths be?
Hello Margaretha! I would suggest at least 4″ longer than the top curved edge of whatever size you’re making. I like to have the extra tail on either end for ease of sewing the pieces together (and then the excess gets trimmed near the end). Thank you!
