So I completely finished my quilt for the Warm Cool Quilt Along over at In Color Order! I used fabrics from Amy Butler’s Soul Blossoms line (and threw in a couple other random pink Amy Butler fabrics to equalize my warms and cools).
Here’s a photo of the back of the quilt so you can see how I quilted it. I really like this design, and it does make the diamond shape on the top of the quilt really pop out!
My 4-year-old son, William, helped me take some of these pictures…didn’t he do a great job?! I loved making this quilt, and I guess I finally decided to just use it as a wall hanging. I agreed with some of the previous comments that it was too nice to use for a rug.
I was really glad to be able to participate in this quilt along; Jeni wrote some really great tutorial posts and had some amazing graphic illustrations for the quilt assembly. I think it’s so cool how visible the quilt design is when pairing the warm and cool fabric. Happy 4th of July!
I think your quilt looks georgeous! I love the colours and how you put them together! Great work!

It’s beautiful! I’m almost done with my quilt for this QAL too, and I’ve been using Soul Blossoms and scraps – Amy Butler works so well! I love the diamond pattern!
Great idea to have the backing double as the binding! The finished quilt looks great 🙂
Looks fantastic! I like how your quilting looks on the back, and you’re right, it really makes the diamonds stand out on the front as well. And yes, definitely too nice for a rug!
Beautiful! I love the colors and the quilting!
Fabulous!
This is absolutely gorgeous! I love this fabric line and have been following the QAL. It’s on my to-do list. 🙂
Yippee! It turned out so great! 🙂
Beautiful. I never thought of using Soul Blossoms for a Warm/Cool quilt. Great job.
It’s awesome! It’s one of the nicest warm/cool quilts I’ve seen. Love the Amy Butler. And your son rocks! I’m waiting for my kids to get home from jazz camp to hold up a quilt for me.
Love it! I’ve only ever done binding the way you described, it’s incredibly easy that way! I’ve had quilting gurus give me disgusted looks when I describe the process, apparently it isn’t the “right” way to do binding. But who cares? I think it looks good and it saves me a lot of time. I’m glad to see someone else doing the same!
Nice job with the Warm Cool Quiltalong! Great layout too!
I love it! Amy’s fabric was such a cool choice! I really love how you can see the quilting on the back too!
Wow, you are so talented! A true artisan!
