Quilt Along and a Request

I’ve put a lot on my sewing plate lately, but I couldn’t resist participating in the Double Wedding Ring Quilt Along over at The Plaid Scottie.

Birch Forest fabric from Ink and Spindle

When I first started thinking about fabrics for this quilt, I knew that I wanted to use a print for the center of the arcs (the photo below is of Kaelin’s finished quilt…I am substituting the gray fabric that she used for the red birch tree fabric above). A vision of a birch tree print popped into my head. Something I’d seen before, but I couldn’t remember where. It took me a few hours to track it down, but it was this Birch Forest hand-printed fabric from Ink and Spindle. It’s available in several colorways; I was torn between the robin’s egg blue and the red. I finalized the red, because I felt like the design pops more (and also, Kim told me to). However, I have never purchased fabric this expensive. I’m not going to say how much it cost, but I will tell you that I was only able to purchase 1/2 metre of it (so I’m going to fill in the rest of the center of the arcs with red solids).

So, we’re coming to the request portion of my post. 🙂 Since I blew my wad on the Ink and Spindle fabric, I’m going to go as cheap as possible with the fabrics for my arcs. I am using purples and blues (and possibly gray), so I bought a few .99 fat quarters at Joanns.

I figured that since the arc pieces are so small (around 2.5″ x 3.5″), the fabric is sort of secondary. I just want to concentrate on the colors. I am going for geometric and graphic prints, like this bundle over at Sew Fresh Fabrics. So I’m wondering…if anyone has any purples and blues in their stash that they’d like to swap? The picture below is what I’ve cut so far. I need a lot more yardage, since I want to make a queen-sized quilt. Well, anyway, if you’d like to trade with me for some fabric, please let me know, I’d really appreciate it! 🙂
