I have been looking forward to posting my finished Jaybird Quilts project today! This project is actually going up in my booth in two weeks at Quilt Market in Houston, and so I’ve made it with my new Jungle Ave. fabrics. What a fun project, and just the thing that I needed to work on to reduce a lot of the stress that I’ve been feeling lately!

The pattern I used for my project (a table runner) is called ‘Tasty’. Folded, the pattern is the size of a postcard, and opens up to a full 8″ x 10″ full-color double-sided page. The pattern calls for nine jelly roll strips (or you can cut 2-1/2″ x 40″ strips from yardage like I did) to make the ‘braids’, and additional fabric for the borders. The finished size of the project is 17-1/2″ x 40-1/2″, which is perfect for the glass coffee table that I’m bringing with me to Market.

I had a great time using the Hex N More ruler with the pattern. The half-hexagons I cut using the ruler had small notches at the corner, which makes them a no-brainer to piece together. I can tell you that your piecing will look perfectly even as all of the fabric aligning guesswork is taken out because of this great ruler. Even if you don’t have the ruler, you can still make the pattern as the template is included for you to trace, but let’s face it, once you’ve used the ruler you’ll want to keep using it for other projects, as it is very versatile and cuts half-hexagons, full-hexagons, 60 degree triangles, and jewels, and each cuts up to 4 different sizes.

The entire thing went together in a few hours. I used an Art Gallery Pure Elements solid for my first (skinny) border and the binding, and the black polka dot print from my line for the second border. I like how the yellow-green makes everything pop!

I had so much fun making this table runner, and it was great having a stress-free project to work on! I highly recommend it!
