Ninebark Backpack

This small backpack features a vertical zipper in each of the side seams. The lining has a slip pocket, and the flap secures with a magnetic snap. The straps are adjustable.

The pdf pattern includes 11 pages of sewing instructions, complete with 32 step-by-step color photos.

Also included in the PDF pattern are printable pattern pieces for your home printer. The following files will all be included with your PDF pattern purchase:

  • SVG Files (for electric cutting machines, such as the Brother Scan N Cut and the Cricut Maker)
  • Projector Files (for use with home projectors for cutting out fabric; please see the group Projectors for Sewing for more information)
  • A0 Files (large-format 33″ x 46″ pattern page for printing at your local copy shop, in case you would rather not tape together the pattern pages that are included in the PDF pattern)

Supplies Needed to Make This Bag

  • 1 yard/metre of exterior fabric
  • 1 yard/metre of lining fabric
  • 1/2 yard/metre of foam interfacing (By Annie’s Soft and Stable, Pellon Flex Foam, Bosal In-R-Form, or automotive headliner – if using Flex Foam that is 20” wide, please purchase 1 yard/metre instead)
  • 3 yard/metre 20” wide Pellon SF-101 Shape Flex fusible woven interfacing (or med-weight fusible interfacing)
  • 9” x 9” piece of Pellon Thermolam (fusible fleece is fine also)
  • 1/4 yard/metre of Pellon Peltex/Decovil Heavy
  • Two 9” handbag zippers
  • 1/2” magnetic snap (a regular magnetic snap is preferable to a thin magnetic snap)
  • Two 1” metal rectangles
  • Two 1” metal sliders
  • If you would like to use webbing instead of fabric for your straps, you will need 2-1/2 yards of 1” wide webbing

Note: If you would like to cut your Exterior Flap from a different fabric (so that it stands out), you will need one 9″ x 9″ piece of fabric.
