Over 200 people made bags to enter in my Sew Sweetness 2017 Bag Contest last month, and let me tell you, it was incredibly hard choosing winners! So many bags looked so wonderful, and to everyone that entered – you are all winners in my eyes, not only for making the deadline but for putting your own original spin on one of my patterns by choosing fabric that meant something to you and pairing it with a bag pattern that would be useful to you in your everyday life! Barkcloth Bags

I made a couple of bags from the new barkcloth fabrics from Hoffman Fabrics. I have been really into the Me+You batiks, and their creator, Aaron Hoffman, is an accomplished surfer. When I received these fabrics in the mail to make the samples, I searched on some online surf and skateboarding shops to get some inspiration for what project I would make with them. read more

Paper-pieced Chroma Batik Bags

I’m super-stoked to show you these Chroma bags samples that I made back in January, using Alison Glass‘s upcoming fabric line ‘Chroma’. These fabrics are modern batiks. I am a major rainbow girl, and these fabrics definitely hit the spot. You can see more photos of the ‘Chroma’ fabric line on Alison’s catalogs page (make sure you flip through the catalog)! If you like these fabrics, make sure to let your favorite fabric shop know that you’d love to see them in the shop – they arrive in June 2017. read more

Show and Tell Saturday v01

Some links in this post are affiliate links, but all opinions are my own.

Happy Saturday! One of my goals for 2017 was to use a planner for the first time ever – I purchased The Quilter’s Planner and I’m attempting to lay out my work goals/projects in it, as well as using Google Calendar to have a digital documentation as well. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to keep up with the handwritten calendar, but we’ll see. One of the main things I’m writing in my calendar is blog posts – way back when, all of this started with my blog, but in the last year or so, I feel like the blog has fallen to last priority, especially when I get busy. There’s so many things that I made last year that I never got around to blogging about, and it’s a shame really. read more

Glitter Vinyl Fabric Now in Stock!

Now in stock in the Sew Sweetness shop are 22 vibrant colors of glitter vinyl fabric! The glitter vinyl is backed with canvas fabric, and it’s very thin (0.6mm) and easy to sew on your home sewing machine. If you’ve not sewn with leather or vinyl before, I suggest using a denim needle and either a walking foot or a Teflon foot (I use a Teflon foot personally). Whenever sewing with vinyl, I always like to test on a scrap first, just so I can get warmed up. read more
