Show and Tell Saturday v01

Some links in this post are affiliate links, but all opinions are my own.

Happy Saturday! One of my goals for 2017 was to use a planner for the first time ever – I purchased The Quilter’s Planner and I’m attempting to lay out my work goals/projects in it, as well as using Google Calendar to have a digital documentation as well. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to keep up with the handwritten calendar, but we’ll see. One of the main things I’m writing in my calendar is blog posts – way back when, all of this started with my blog, but in the last year or so, I feel like the blog has fallen to last priority, especially when I get busy. There’s so many things that I made last year that I never got around to blogging about, and it’s a shame really.

Bag of the Month Club sneak peak

My month for Bag of the Month Club 2017 is February, and I’ve released this little sneak peak for my bag. I made this sample using cork fabric from my shop (although I also made a sample with all cotton fabric!). If you haven’t used cork fabric yet, it’s really easy to sew with, and I’ll be releasing a free video on how to sew with cork fabric, when my February pattern comes out. I can’t wait!

Milky Way Quilt Along Block 1

Besides keeping a planner, another way that I’m being kind to myself in 2017 is to work on selfish sewing projects. I jumped in on the Milky Way Sampler quilt along by Blossom Heart Quilts. I really love paper piecing, and am finding the blocks to be quick and easy. For foundation paper piecing, I like using fusible applique papers by Hugs and Kisses – they are water soluable, so when the quilt is done, I don’t have to remove any paper. I print the templates on the non-adhesive side and press the fabric on the adhesive as I work (I use a small travel iron and pressing board set up next to my sewing machine).

I’m using fabrics by Alison Glass, including her just-released Sun Print 2017 fabrics! The background fabrics are also by Alison Glass (did you know she had so many neutrals? I stocked up because they are great background fabrics!).

Alina Design Co. Panama Tee Dress by Sew Sweetness

Another of my unblogged projects was this Alina Design Co. Panama Tee Dress that I pattern tested around Thanksgiving. This is a great pattern that gives a lot of options. I made Version B but I’d love to try Version C next (an ankle-length maxi dress). It’s really comfortable, and I used a knit fabric from my stash from Girl Charlee.

And finally, here’s a block that I made from a free tutorial by my friend Lee of May Chappell using Tula Pink ‘Tabby Road’ fabrics. You can find the tutorial here.
