Sweetbay Mini Crossbody Bag

The Sweetbay Mini Crossbody Bag is the smallest bag I’ve ever designed – it just fits a cell phone and a few credit cards. This bag also features an adjustable strap. Perfect for when you just want to carry the bare minimum.

An online workshop is available to purchase for this pattern, watch the trailer video below:

Online Workshop Length – 1 hour 1o minutes

Finished Size: 5” long x 7-1/4” tall x 1-3/8” deep (13cm x 18cm x 3cm)

Supplies Needed to Make This Bag:

  • 1/2 yard/metre of exterior fabric (quilting cotton or lightweight canvas recommended)
  • 1/2 yard/metre of lining fabric
  • 1/4 yard/metre of solid-colored fabric for the strap
  • 1/4 yard/metre of foam interfacing (By Annie’s Soft and Stable, Pellon Flex Foam, Bosal In-R-Form, or automotive headliner – if using Flex Foam that is 20” wide, please purchase 1/2 yard/metre instead)
  • 1-2/3 yard/metre 20” wide Pellon SF-101 Shape Flex fusible woven interfacing (or med-weight fusible interfacing)
  • 6” x 6” piece of Pellon Thermolam (fusible fleece is fine as well)
  • 1/4 yard/metre Pellon P44F or PLF36 Lightweight Fusible non-woven interfacing (or other non-woven interfacing)
  • Four 1” x 1” squares of Pellon Peltex or Decovil Heavy
  • 3/4” metal rectangle
  • 3/4” metal slider
  • Two 1/2” magnetic snaps

Please note that the cover photo shows swivel clips attached to d-rings; the pattern instructions and video use one 3/4” metal rectangle and a 3/4” metal slider instead.

The pdf pattern includes 9 pages of sewing instructions, complete with 25 step-by-step color photos.

Also included in the PDF pattern are printable pattern pieces for your home printer. The following files will all be included with your PDF pattern purchase:

  • SVG Files (for electric cutting machines, such as the Brother Scan N Cut and the Cricut Maker)
  • Projector Files (for use with home projectors for cutting out fabric; please see the group Projectors for Sewing for more information)
  • A0 Files (large-format 33″ x 46″ pattern page for printing at your local copy shop, in case you would rather not tape together the pattern pages that are included in the PDF pattern)

Thank you to Chera Phipbody for the lovely Sweetbay Mini Crossbody Bag photos.

What fabric range did you use for your newest bags. The range includes pastels with the elephant, the lion and the deer? It is absolutely gorgeous.

Hi Susan! It is Tula Pink ‘Everglow’
