Thank you for that Sara. Very helpful. And cork, glad you mentioned that. Haven’t sewn with it yet, but want to try. I usually use Superior Titanium Topstitch for Piecing, and Schmetz Universal for General Sewing. I keep Microtex on hand for lycra (swimsuit fabric), works well on batiks too.

I also use Schmertz needles. I think they are the best choise for my sewing machine! I like their
quality and diversity. I always buy them at https://konsew.com/sewing-machine-needles/schmertz-industrial-needles

    Hi Sara!
Thanks for this video. I use Schmetz needles in my Viking machine, but use
Janome Red Tip in my Janome machines for most sewing, and Janome Purple Tip for quilting as it helps prevent skipped stitches. I also sometimes use Organ needles in my Janome machines.

Thanks for your specific reference to the Janome machine. I’ve been wondering the difference between the Red Tip Janome needle and the Janome universal 90/14 for bag making. I seem to be getting a little looping in the thread with the Red Tip when working on my Janome Memory Craft 6650 with quilting cotton backed with one or two layers of Shape Flex stabilizer. There seems to be no problem with the Red Tip for the same fabric backed with Soft and Stable foam. Is the Red Tip a stronger needle than the universal 90/14? It’s confusing since the Red Tip is also labeled 14. Thanks for any thoughts you have on this. Carolyn

Hello Carolyn! I honestly don’t know about Janome needles, do you have a local Janome dealer that you can check with? I use 90/14 microtex needles for my Juki, either Organ brand needles or Schmetz brand needles. Thank you!

Thanks so much for the quick reply. I’ve sent my question to Ken’s Sewing Center where I purchased the machine. Hope they can help. I’m so grateful for Sew Sweetness. I’ve learned a great deal from the site since I began sewing on a Brother cs600i a year ago. I’ve made many bags using the helpful patterns and videos Sew Sweetness offers. The instructions offered are always clear and easy to follow. Kind regards, Carolyn

  4. I use Schmitz needles. I never heard of the brand Organ.

After my mom gave me a pack of Schmitz needles, that’s all I use.
