What’s Up and a Fun New Crafting Blog

Hey everyone! I’ve been a bit quiet on the blog lately, but there have been tons of behind-the-scenes stuff going on lately, but I think the pace will be picked up again, blog-wise, starting next week! Here’s a little bit about what’s been going on.

My ‘Jungle Ave.’ line for Art Gallery Fabrics, arrives in June!

1. Getting ready for Quilt Market. Quilt Market is a twice-yearly trade show geared toward quilt shops, designers, and media outlets. It’s usually where all the new fabrics and other products are first shown. I have my first booth, and I always wondered why people acted so crazy in the four weeks before Quilt Market. Well, now I know. Ha. I’ve been sewing my butt off, and I still have about 5 weeks of non-stop to go. I’ll start showing off some finished projects starting next week; I have tons of bags, quilts, and clothing in store (some my patterns, some other people’s patterns).

2. Website Re-launch! I am officially moving over to WordPress, and my pattern shop is moving as well. Technically everything has already been moved, but it’s at a top-secret address awaiting transfer of my hosting. The website address will still be the same, but I feel like the look and layout of the new site is much improved. I think my blog posts and other content will be much easier to navigate. Plus I will now be selling paper patterns, my fabric line with Art Gallery Fabrics (well, pre-orders at least for now!), and boxes of Aurifil thread! I’ll still have the pdf patterns, so don’t worry. 😉

3. New patterns. I sent 6 new patterns to the printer. These are already-existing pdf’s (Aragon Bag, Park West Bag, Soda Pop Bag, Lilium Laptop Bag, Peas and Corn Lunch Bags, and Lapin Noir Bag). This is a lot of man-hours spent at the computer as photos need to be converted for printing, layouts are slightly different for my pattern booklets, etc. But a necessary thing and great that the patterns will be available to quilt shops!

4. Sew along coming soon! On my blog I will be hosting a sew along for Jaybird Quilts patterns. This is one of the biggest quilt pattern companies out there. And I’ve seen it first-hand when I’ve gone to my local quilt shop, as there is a new stack of them every time I’m there; they seriously go like hotcakes. So stay tuned from April 22-May 13 as myself and my guest bloggers show off their finished quilts and provide for you full reviews of Jaybird Quilts patterns.

Anyway, thanks for continuing to read and I promise I will have a lot of great sewing projects to show you next week and going forward!

I also wanted to tell you about my friend, Vick’s, new crafting blog. She’s beginning to post fun projects and how-to’s (not only sewing but also general crafting). Her site is called Crafty Goodness, and here’s a look at some of the projects.

There are project instructions for this Mini Star Quilt. The foundation paper piecing templates are included in the post, as well as written instructions and a binding video.

There’s also some inspiration images for embossing that I thought were pretty cool. I remember doing some of this when I was a kid, my mom had a lot of rubber stamps and we embossed with some of them.

Check out Crafty Goodness for some more handmade posts!

don’t know if it’s the move or the new look, but your archive blog posts have no pictures, just broken links – content is there but no pictures – 2011 anyway! Hope they return, I was enjoying reading the early stuff. Cheers, AJ.
