What’s Your Favorite Quilt Shop?

I haven’t shared a lot of news about this yet, but I am in the process of getting my pdf patterns into print. The first two weeks or so in July will be spent converting select patterns (I haven’t narrowed down a final number yet, but I will send 7-10 patterns to print to start out) into print-friendly versions (they will be printed as 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ full-color booklets, with a large pull-out page for the pattern pieces).

Currently, I assemble my pdf patterns in Word before compiling them as a pdf, but these will need to be formatted in Adobe before I send them to the printer. I’ve done a lot of leg-work in researching printers, so the next task remains for me to get to work and sit at my computer for awhile. 🙂

I am very excited in this next step, and I know some of you have already sent words of encouragement my way, and for that I appreciate you so much! I’ve decided to start out my printed patterns journey with a grass roots approach, by contacting quilt shops directly and telling them about my patterns.

Although my printed patterns won’t be available until late July, would you help me out and tell me about your favorite local quilt shop? Any information you can give me would be much appreciated…a website, phone number, name and address…anything helps! I want to make sure to attempt to get my patterns into YOUR favorite shops first!!

Thank you so much for your support…I hope you have a great weekend!! 🙂

Fabulous! Congrats! Will get you the fabric shop info here in Tidewater Virginia!

Here in Georgia, I’d recommend A Scarlet Thread in McDonough (the largest quilt shop in GA) and Tiny Stitches, the LQS I just taught the Aeroplane Bag workshop at. Intown Quilters in Decatur GA might also be amendable – they are probably the most modern shop in the Atlanta area.

Lawrence Kansas loves Sarah’s Fabrics– Meg at Whatever (http://megduerksen.typepad.com/) has blogged it several times and it’s just a fantastic shop. She carries all the designers that modern quilters love, plus a healthy dose of more traditional fabrics. Just a great shop. http://sarahsfabrics.com/

Here in Olympia WA I recommend Ruby Street Quiltworks! Most modern shop we have.

In Ocala & Crystal River, Florida, I would recommend Tomorrow’s Treasures Quilt Shop. http://www.crquilts.com/ Of course, I work there, so I may be a bit biased. 😉

Here in Austin, TX it is Remnants Fiber Culture. She has a website with the same name.

  7. In central Florida, I would recommend contacting Fabric Warehouse in Lakeland, FL (http://fabric-warehouse.info/) and Heartfelt Quilting and sewing in Winter Haven, FL (http://www.heartfeltquilting.net/).

The needle shop of course – and (though I haven’t been there in person yet) Sew To Speak in columbus Ohio!

super! I’m a few steps behind you, just getting testers for my pdf patterns, otherwise I was the only “tester” I’d love any advise for when I get to this point. my local shops are “wish upon a quilt” in raleigh nc, then thimble pleasures in Chapel hill nc. though I mostly shop online 🙂

“The Quilt Company” in Pittsburgh. The thing I love is that they make the bags and then attach the patterns to them so you see what the finish project will look like!

The Fabric Shack in Waynesville, OH is a huge quilt shop with an international presence. Fabric Shack Stores | 99 South Marvin Lane | Waynesville, Ohio, 45068 | 513 897-0092 | 1-877-666-4245 | [email protected]. Your patterns would be a great fit. Congratulations on the new venture!

I have two for you 🙂 Quilted Straight in Port Gamble, WA (855) 467-8458 and The Wild Rose Quilt Shop and Retreat in Orting, WA (360) 893-0202. Those are two of my favorite. I hope this helps.

  25. I have 2 to recommend here in Houston. It’s a really, and I mean REALLY big city so you should cover more than just these 2. The first one is on the SW side of town:
    Quilters Emporium
    11925 Southwest Freeway, Ste. 11
    Stafford, TX 77477
    800-395-7794
    http://www.quiltersemporium.com
It’s just on the edge of the Houston city limits. A little more on the traditional side, but trying to update their style with e-readers and more contemporary prints and patterns and bags.

On the SE side of town is:
    Sew Contempo
    18203 Egret Bay
    Houston, TX 77058
    281-333-5322
    http://www.sewcontempo.com
They carry much more contemporary fabric and patterns and have been big into bags for a while.

Patched Works – Elm Grove, WI
    http://www.patchedworks.com

    Material Matters – Thiensville, WI

Both shops have been super supportive about carrying my patterns, so definitely give them a shot! : )
