On the Go Bags Book

onthegobags1

I’m really happy to tell you about the new On the Go Bags book, out December 7, 2015. This book is available at C&T Publishing, and you can also find it on Amazon (affiliate link). The authors of this book are my friends Lindsay Conner from Lindsay Sews and Craft Buds, and Janelle MacKay from Emmaline Bags. They each have some wonderful designs in the book, as well as including the designs from some of my other favorite bag makers!

This neat project from the book is called the Air-it-Out Gym Tote, and it combines fabric and mesh in a pretty drawstring over-the-shoulder backpack. This pattern was designed by Lorraine of ikatbag.

This is the Snap-and-Go Sewing or Art Case by Jennie and Clara of Clover and Violet. This case is great with lots of storage space inside, and it goes together easily with the help of bias binding to finish off all of the raw edges!

This is the Cart or Stroller Caddy from the book, as designed by Veronica of sewVery. This is a useful and quick project to have all of your necessities handy at the grocery store (maybe you’re a couponer and need the extra space?) or on the back of your stroller! This caddy was made in pretty Joel Dewberry fabrics.

This is my favorite project from the book, the Mom’s Minivan Organizer by Sara of Radiant Home Studio. I see a lot of ladies using a large tote such as this to take their sewing materials to class when I teach a workshop! I think this is genius! Really handy, very sturdy, and a great size for fitting into the back of your car!

And here’s my project from the book, the Tablet Shoulder Bag. I had a request a couple of years ago for a bag specifically made to hold a tablet, so I designed this with an interesting flap. It’s padded on the inside to protect your decide, but goes together quickly for a satisfying sew.

I hope you liked seeing a few of the projects from the book! I just got the Laptop Shoulder Bag back from the publisher and my daughter is immensely enjoying carrying her tablet around (I think she really just likes having *another* new bag!). Don’t forget that you can pick up On the Go Bags here or here!

Newest fav: a divided basket to hold my fabric stash, but which will do so much more soon! I know the book is something I’d love to have as I prepare for our planned move into a tiny house on wheels which will always be “on the go”! The projects are tailor made for me! The organizer will be just the ticket for our home’s loft storage and for our vehicle as we travel and stay in our state and national parks. A smart backpack will be necessary as we hike the trails, too, and there is frequent shopping for groceries for a tiny tiny house, so totes are a necessity! And who among us doesn’t love a new purse! My collection of practical bags will be an important part of our journey, as will my beloved sewing machine!
