I am afraid to buy anything to go expensive because I would be afraid to cut into it….then it would sit in my stash 🙂 so the most I have spent is $15

  2. Meghan Cunha says:

The most expensive fabric I have bought was a custom from Spoonflower. But for something so different, it is worth it!

  3. Rike says:

Oh, I really would like to win, because I never triedto sew a dress only quilts and purses.
    thanks for the chance!
    Greetings, Rike

  4. Kat says:

It’s a toss between Liberty of London and Nani Iro

  5. allisonsews says:

I usually buy everything on sale!

  6. kim Mullen says:

my most expensive fabric was some double gauze with sheep & sheepdogs on it, I bought only 2 yds. so I made a sundress for myself!

  7. Brenna says:

Silk duponi for my wedding dress…

  8. smallmole says:

I once had some buffalo check brushed cotton delivered from America – so expensive but so worth it!

  9. Janna says:

    I really don’t know…I’m a sale shopper.

  10. Elizabeth says:

I usually buy fabric when it’s on sale, but the most expensive I’ve bought was probably wool.

  11. Ann says:

I love sales and bargains…so sadly the most expensive fabric I bought was not even for me. Beautiful upholstery fabric in dark blue with colourful Knights in armour on horseback. Bought the minimum I could get away with and used it for canopies on curtains and mock four poster bed for son. Room walls were hand painted with copies knoghts

  12. Shannon Snyder says:

I made a jacket out of $25 per yard purple silk/rayon velvet over a year ago. I am sad to say I have never worn it out of the house!

  13. stoneysews says:

$40 plus per yard because I have a serious fine wool addiction.

  14. I think the most I ever spent was $25 a yard for dark green velvet for an evening gown for a Christmas party. Then I cut it wrong and had to go buy more! (Turned out to be a gorgeous dress, though!)

  15. bekki says:

Quilting cotton from america! Ha. Thats stuffs expensive!

  16. Victoria Z says:

I remember when I was a teenager I really wanted some fabric that was 20$ a yard. I worked my tail off to get a few yards of that to make a dress!

  17. meagangracie says:

Oh goodness, some nani iro double gauze maybe?

  18. Christa says:

I’m embarrassed to say that anything over $12 is too much for me!

  19. smeebot says:

Scuba fabric at Britex on a trip to San Fran with my sister.

  20. farmquilter says:

I once paid $22.00 a yard…for Minky to be used for a quilt backing.

  21. Sarah Jane says:

I’m pretty thrifty (read cheap) plus my budget is usually pretty tight, so generally nothing over $10/Yd. Although when I made my daughter’s last national highland dance costume I paid a lot for the tartan and velvet – but still far less than buying an already made costume – and I definitely got my money’s worth. I made it for her when she was 13 and she’s still using it at 22. 🙂

  22. Catherine says:

I think it was a super soft chambray for something like 18.00 a yard. And the dress I made myself didn’t even fit! Oh well.

  23. kellylynn says:

I haven’t went expensive yet. Need to get better before I can splurge.

  24. Nathalie says:

I never buy expensive fabric, to afraid to mess it up. I think 13€/m is the most expensive that I have bought and that is still pretty average.

  25. Melanie says:

Technically it was a gift as I received a liberty voucher for Christmas but I bought some beautiful tana lawn. Otherwise I don’t like to splurge too much as I still worry my projects might not work out! Think I need to have more self confidence…

  26. Alli says:

    The most expensive fabric I’ve bought is probably double gauze or Japanese canvas for around $20 a yard. :}

  27. Jenny L says:

I think the most expensive fabric I ever bought is a rayon to make a shirt for me, but I used a gift card to purchase it!

  28. Daniela says:

i have some small cuts of liberty tana lawn. not enough for a garment, but it’s definitely my most expensive fabric when it comes to price per yard.

  29. auschick says:

I have 3 yards of Liberty in my collection… still yet to be cut into!!!

  30. Betty W. says:

I usually try to buy things on sale. But I bought some Art Gallery voile at full price, intending to make a Christmas present.

  31. latanya t says:

    I would say silk.

  32. Sarah says:

I bought some home dec fabric that was $20/yard not realizing the price when I had it cut.

  33. I normally buy quilting cotton, and watch for sales.

  34. gccmom says:

I really can’t remember. I think I wiped it out of my mind. I once bought some pima cotton for a smocked dress and probably paid 18.00 a yard.

  35. srlsfamily says:

I have some liberty of london floral denim on my list of makes. It cost $37.50 a yard and I got 1 1/2 yards…hoping to make some shorts with it.

  36. Tatiana says:

Very nice wool fabric for a jacket was the most expensive fabric that I bought. Thank you for the giveaway!

  37. Leslie S says:

I cringe to pay more than $12/yd for fabric, but am slowly starting to accept the reality of rising prices (and just how much the quality does increase with the higher price).

  38. Rita says:

I lined a cape with some “technical fleece,” which was a little over $30 a yard. It’s very warm and windproof, so it was well worth the money, even though it’s not something I wear too often. Generally, I’m pretty hesitant to go over $20 a yard, since I usually need 2 – 3 yards.

  39. Catherine in MI says:

I paid around $20/yard for faux fur to make a Chewbacca costume.

  40. Jana says:

The most expensive fabric I’ve sewn with was an amazing Italian wool plaid that was around €50/m (yikes!). But I didn’t buy that, I got it as a gift from my mum. The most expensive I’ve bought … hmmm … some really beautiful dark red variegated linen for shorts, I think. It was around €30/m and I have still not made those shorts because I’m afraid of ruining the beautiful fabric. I tend to do that with my favourite pieces of fabric—which is really silly, but I can’t help it!

  41. Peggy says:

Hi – I bought some lace that I just had to make a scarf out of. I think it was $23/yd. I’m used to $12/yard for quilting fabric – which i think is high – so $23 is crazy. But, my scarf is sure pretty. 🙂

  42. Cotton and Steel cotton lawn. It was worth it

  43. V Reed says:

I bought a silk that was $20 a yard. I still haven’t made anything with it!

  44. Anna gerard says:

Liberty of London and Nani Iro. 🙂

  45. Danette says:

I bought Liberty of London Hello Kitty – 3 yards of it. Still have yet to sew anything with it…sigh. So cute, though.

  46. Alice says:

Liberty tana lawn – although it was on sale

  47. Probably the beautiful wool I used to make a dress and jacket years ago.

  48. Cindy S. says:

The most expensive fabric I ever bought was Melton wool for my yet to be made winter coat. It was about $17 a yard.

  49. Katy M says:

I’m a complete cheapskate! The dearest I ever bought was some Liberty fabric and it took me 4 years to actually cut into it! x

  50. Becky N. says:

I gray tweed for a skirt that I made that was about $25/yard.

  51. lucilledupuis says:

I bought some Chanel tweed for a jacket and some Prada silk/linen satin for a bridal gown. Yummy!!!! (Lucille D, aka Nancy McKenzie

  52. Patti says:

I’ve bought some expensive home dec fabric, about $50 a yard.

  53. Rena says:

Fabric is a lot more expensive here in rural Canada – but at least we have a local fabric store. Probably $24/m for some ponti Di roma before I realized there were frequent sales for members.

  54. Logan Mack says:

Probably something for embroidery. I like to make clothes that see rough wear and am afraid to spend a lot for something that might get ruined, so I like a good sale.

  55. rhondalaws says:

I bought some faux fur fabric to make my granddaughter a vest and it was +/-$20 a yard on eBay. I was so careful with it.

  56. Michelle says:

I think 10.00 a yard was the most I have ever paid.

  57. Debby says:

I haven’t bought anything expensive yet. I want to wait until I am a little better sewer so I don’t ruin it!

  58. sunhfarm says:

Definitely the damask I bought for my wedding dress! 🙂

  59. Suzanne says:

I top out at $21/yd. I think it was on clearance from Smuggler’s Daughter and it was some Eileen Fisher knit. But I haven’t touched it yet, I’m hoarding it.

  60. Becky says:

Probably about $30 a yard, but it’s definitely not the norm for me 🙂

  61. fenna says:

probably 20$ per yard but then it was on sale for a little less…

  62. gibbylet says:

Heh.. I bought two yards of Liberty tana lawn, put it in the wash without a color catching sheet, and something deposited blue dye spots in the middle of it. That was 3-4 years ago and I’ve been figuring out how to work around the spots to make something out of it! I find its extra expensive to buy things then not use them!

  63. Laura says:

I have a small cut of Liberty fabric, but I usually stick to moderately priced fabric!

  64. melissa says:

Cotton & Steel Cotton/linen blend, with shipping it was $35 for 2 yards…but I was able to squeeze out a dress!

  65. Ella says:

I bought a bunch of Echino to make an Aeroplane bag.

  66. LaLa Sews says:

I was ambitious and bought some silk voile – a fabric waaay above my technical skill level – from Mood fabrics at $16 a yard. That’s about my max so far but I know as I get better my willingness to spend more on the fabric will increase.

  67. Elizabeth says:

Whatever I just bought today. Says “Stamp Print Spring” seems like a heavy linen…

    1. Elizabeth says:

Just figured out it is a linen/cotton canvas

  68. stitchingbynumbers2014 says:

I’d have to say the most I’ve ever spent would be about $10 a meter. I’m too afraid of ruining the more expensive stuff!

  69. Hayley says:

I got some Joel Deeberry sateen. This was before I knew anything about sewing at all. I just bought it because it was lovely. It is still sitting in my stash. I’m not quite sure what to make with it still

  70. Lien says:

I try to buy as cheap as possible so propbably €15/m

  71. Kat H says:

    Haha

  72. Kat H says:

    Gah comment submitted too soon!!
I was going to say oh dear, expensive fabric! A silk chiffon covered in gorgeous blue, purple and green sequins in a chevron pattern. It utterly terrifies me so has spent a few years hanging on a coat hanger on the wall looking gorgeous. I doubt I’ll ever use it sadly…

  73. Ellee says:

The most expensive fabric I ever bought was some wonderful Pendleton wool for a coat.

  74. The most expensive would be 25$ , I usually buy on sales.

  75. Donna says:

It was a gorgeous silk/linen blend in lavender that I used for a jacket.

  76. Angelica says:

I buy fabric from markets and sales whenever possible, but my local fabric shop have their own range of digital printed “winter jersey” (a slightly thicker, warmer and more stable knit jersey) at 160 dkk (~24 USD) per meter, and their prints are sometimes too good to pass.

  77. Dana says:

Japanese silk with strawberries on it. I made a scarf.

  78. Cammie says:

A Wool knit from Berwick street in London (also the nicest quality fabric I’ve ever bought!) But most of the time I’m pretty stingy with my fabric funds

  79. Maryall says:

The most expensive… a 1/2 metre of good knit 🙂

  80. Mel says:

Some lovely fine merino knit. I’m too scared to cut into it!

  81. Linda says:

My most expensive purchase (so far) was 2 yards of some Nani Iro Double Gauze. So far, all I’ve done is fondle it, but someday soon I hope to make a shawl out of it.

  82. Montymoo says:

I have some Liberty Tana Lawn. I just sit and admire it. 🙂

  83. Alice Lam says:

Probably 2 metres of Liberty crepe de chine that I bought off ebay for £28 and the 2 metres of Liberty lawn that I’m about to buy…

  84. dixieodare says:

The Satin for my Wedding Dress 🙂

  85. Meg says:

Liberty cord for a dress for my 2yo. I should have bought more and made something for me instead!

  86. Kathy says:

Some very pretty silk that I’m too intimidated to use.

  87. The most expensive I got was the vegan leather from girl charlee. While it’s not that expensive, I live at the bottom of the world, so with shipping it’s around $22 per metre. I’m still quite new to sewing (just over a year) and only just getting brave enough to try speciality fabric.

    1. Uhh this went via my blog, ha sorry.

  88. ewa says:

Lovely polka dot linen, still haven’t cut it!

  89. Shayna says:

I love Victory patterns and would jump at the chance to give them a shot!

  90. Melanie C says:

    A FQ bundle for $121.

  91. Claire Ross says:

I have bough some liberty prints but am too scared to cut them yet!!!

  92. ybat says:

The most expensive is 17 dollars a yard. It was this adorable hello kitty fabric that was imported from china and luckily I was able to make a skirt for myself from one yard.

  93. Donna Phelps says:

As long as I can remember, I have purchased cotton for quilting. I have done some upholstery and I would say that would be the most expensive fabric I have purchased.
