Moslty I use what I guess is Quilting Cotton in the US. Sometimes I like to use sturdier home deco weight, especially for like Travel Bags.

I love the colors of quilting cotton, the weight of home decor, the look of faux leather and now I’m having fun with quilted rubber, definitely making a funky bag with that one 🙂 Guess I let the design of the bag dictate my favorite fabric choice.

I love Charlie’s Aunt patterns and I would have a very hard time choosing 6 if I won.
I like to try to use home dec or at least linen blends nowadays, but I’d really like to try vinyl and leather!

I’ve used home dec, quilter’s cotton, and linen. It’s all good as long as I use the right kind of interfacing.

I like to use quilting cottons as they come in a huge variety of fun prints, but I sometimes use wool for a classier result or faux leather for a fun and chic one!
I need to use heavier than cotton weight fabrics more often. I like the look of wool blends for winter, I will need to go shopping!

I’m in the process right now of making a combo home dec and faux leather. It’s been more challenging than my normal fare of home dec and quilting cottons!
I generally use home decor fabrics, linen or leather. I’ve also used nylon, sunbrella type fabric, shower curtains and old wedding dresses. Its fun to get inspired by new materials. I was just given a bunch of Sarees complete with bright colors and fancy beadwork. Not sure what to make with those. Any ideas?
I made the Sudbury Saddle bag as my birthday present last year with quilting cotton, but I have some textured fabric that I would like to use for another one…maybe even a different design 🙂

I love these!! I like to use either up cycled men’s wool coat fabric or bright upholstery (heavy cotton usually) when I make any type of bag. I love the detailing on her patterns and would love to win a pattern to play with and sew up for Christmas presents.

I’ve only made zipper pouches so far. I let my kids go through all my quilting fabric and pick combinations of main fabric and lining fabric for each of their cousins. It was fun to do and after making 10, I think I can do zippers! I’m ready to try a bag for myself. Thanks for this blog series, it’s already getting me excited to make my next project!
I have made a few baga …a couple of Amy Butler and they have worked well…I have bought a couple of ChrisWDesigns which I would like to try.
I use quilting cotton and home dec fabric… But I would love to try adding leather or suede accents.
I love decorator cotton- it has a nicer weight than quilting fabric…but not always in such a wide range of colours and styles;-)
I like Japanese fabrics,,,and quilting cottons too.
I like using canvas in solids and prints for the bag exterior and cottons for the interior. I also like using faux leather for handles, tabs, bases, etc.

I primarily use quilting cottons, but have some lovely lighter weight upholstery fabrics that I plan to use very soon. I also have some lovely wool that I originally bought to make clothing, but after seeing some of the patterns done in wool, plan to try that soon.
I have used quilting cotton and wool. I have a used leather jacket that’s been waiting to be made into a purse or bag. Those patterns look fabulous! I sure hope I win!!

I would use a tWeedy wool in black and white , trimmed in black. It would look so sharp!
I love canvas! So sturdy but I wish more fabric designers would do their prints on canvas. Sure I use other home decor fabrics, wool, linen, and quilting cottons, too.

Typically I just use cotton or home dec fabric, but lately I am into wool!! I think it is because of the fall! I am starting to add bits of leather with the wool and let me tell you, it looks so awesome!!!

I’ve used All types of fabrics, but I like home dec fabrics that have a bit of body. I also like duck cloth – sometimes it can give the look of a denim but it’s easier to sew.
The fabric I use depends on the bag. I usually use quilting cotton or home decor fabrics, but I also like to repurpose heavier weights of clothing such as jeans, suit fabric and corduroy, etc.
The last bag that I made was out of quilting cotton interfaced and a faux leather fabric.

Denim is my go-to fabric for purses unless there’s a particular reason to use something else.
I generally use quilting cottons because they’re sturdy, easy to work with, and gorgeous. I really should try to expand my skills and work with other materials, but the thought of screwing up expensive wool or pleather keeps me heading straight to the cottons.
I prefer to use quilting cotton, easy to sew, beautiful colours and patterns.

I mostly use quilting cottons for the prints, but I also like to use old jeans to try out a new pattern to see if I like it. Doesn’t cost much that way, and if I like it, then I’ll use the “good” stuff to make another.

I love working with quilting cotton and upcycled denim. But the finished product with upholstery fabric is so much more lux.

I base my bag making materials on bag style. I use a lot of quilters cotton with SF101 doubled, however, some bags look best in wool. I have recently started using suede and thin leather. I’ve made the clutch by Charlie’s Aunt and it is exquisite in wool!

I’m most comfortable working with cottons, so that’s probably what I would want to make a bag out of also. Although, I do like the sturdiness and fun prints of a home decor fabric.
