VIDEO: My Fabric Stash

In this segment of Bag Lab, I’m answering a viewer question about how I store and organize my fabric.

What about you? What’s been most helpful for you when organizing your fabric stash?

I love answering questions live on Sewcial Sunday, but due to the live format I am usually giving a concise answer (or doing my best in the moment!). I would like to start an occasional segment on Sewcial Sunday called ‘Bag Lab’ in which I will be answering particular questions live on the show in greater detail. I’m looking for your photos/questions about the following bag-making issues:
1. Wanting my thoughts on choosing fabric for a particular Sew Sweetness pattern. Send a photo with 5 fabrics (ruler included in the photo so I can get a sense of scale), and I will discuss my thoughts for which fabric I might choose for that project and why.
2. You’ve finished your Sew Sweetness bag but there’s a spot where you’d like to do better (maybe you need advice about pressing, you had a fitting issue or a pucker, the zipper was challenging to sew; you wanted to try better for next time or need a suggestion for getting through a challenging part); send a photo of the spot in question.
3. You were thinking of modifying a particular Sew Sweetness pattern and you want advice on how to do that.
4. You are looking for a bag/pouch for a particular purpose and want to know which Sew Sweetness pattern would work for that.
5. You have a particular question about your sewing machine (why does my machine do this and how do I fix it); include sewing machine model and photo of issue if applicable.
6. You have a general bag-making question or a question about a notion or tool; include photo if applicable.
7. Anything I might have missed! Or maybe you have a question about me (questions about my past sewing history, how I did this or that, etc.).
If you would like me to answer your question live on Sewcial Sunday, please send an email to [email protected] with the subject line ‘Bag Lab’. Include well-lit photos if applicable. I will show your photos if I discuss your question or issue on Sewcial Sunday, and I will use your first name (unless you request to be anonymous). Depending on the amount of emails I get for Bag Lab, I may not be able to discuss all issues on the show. I will attempt to make this an ongoing series. IMPORTANT: When I receive a Bag Lab email, I will reply that I have received the email, but I will not answer the question posed in the Bag Lab email until I answer it live on Sewcial Sunday. If you require an immediate answer to a question, *please* make a new post in the Sew Sweetness Facebook Group. Thank you!

Where do you get your fabric? You always have such pretty bright prints.

Hi Carol! Some of my favorite online shops are Hawthorne Supply Co., Stash Fabrics, Brew Stitched, and Fat Quarter Shop. Thank you!
