Minikins – Picnic in the Park Cooler

The Picnic in the Park Cooler is the 7th pattern in Minikins Season Two, my bundle of 13 Videos+PDF Patterns. Minikins Season Two is a great set of practical patterns, and many have specific purposes. Here I’ll show you a bit more about this pattern, and check the bottom of this blog post to enter a photo of your own completed Picnic in the Park Cooler project!

For the month of August 2019, I will draw a randomly-chosen winner out of all those that enter a photo at the end of this blog post. The random winner will be awarded a $100 gift certificate at Sew Sweetness! Winner will be drawn after August 31, 2019. Good luck!

The Picnic in the Park Cooler is an insulated cooler with handles, so it’s perfect to either keep your hot foods hot, or your cold foods cool! I used Insul-Fleece in my project, as well as outdoor fabric to keep it nice and sturdy (although you could certainly use laminated fabric or quilting cotton if you wish!). The PDF pattern contains full-color step photos and the video is 1 hour 7 minutes long. The pattern and video for Minikins Season Two will be available in your account on my site upon purchase.

Love the idea to finally be able to make my own cooler bag. Just wondering how/if it holds ice without leaking .
    Love your newsletters…

Hi Terry! There’s a note in the pattern (near the end): If you used waterproof fabric, your cooler will be easy to wipe clean. I suggest using cooling packs inside your cooler. If you prefer to use ice cubes in your cooler instead, I recommend sealing all of the seams in the lining before you close the opening in the lining. You can use a hand-held tube of 100% Clear Silicone Sealant to do this.

Is it possible to get just the cooler pattern?

    1. Sara Lawson says:

Hi Cynthia! This pattern is exclusively part of Minikins Season Two. Thank you!

    How big is the cooler?
