Happy Saturday! One of my goals for 2017 was to use a planner for the first time ever – I purchased The Quilter’s Planner and I’m attempting to lay out my work goals/projects in it, as well as using Google Calendar to have a digital documentation as well. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to keep up with the handwritten calendar, but we’ll see. One of the main things I’m writing in my calendar is blog posts – way back when, all of this started with my blog, but in the last year or so, I feel like the blog has fallen to last priority, especially when I get busy. There’s so many things that I made last year that I never got around to blogging about, and it’s a shame really.
Just in time for some quick holiday gift sewing is the Kismet Trinket Boxes sewing pattern, now available in PDF, Paper Pattern, and German PDF Pattern format! This new pattern is part of my ‘Value Series’ of $5 patterns! With less than 20 sewing steps, this pattern is quick and fun to sew!
Happy Black Friday weekend! It’s my birthday on Monday (the 28th), and to celebrate, NOW THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT I’m offering 40% off all patterns in the Sew Sweetness Pattern Shop using coupon code happybirthday. Additionally, all orders over $100 will receive a FREE 18″ x 54″ glitter vinyl – no coupon needed for the glitter vinyl, just let me know your color choice at checkout! The offer is good now through end of day Sunday, November 27th.
This year, I have become a big fan of subscription boxes. No matter what your interests are, the right subscription box is out there for you. I first signed up for several subscriptions out of sheer curiosity, but I have continued to pay to be a subscriber because I value the quality of my boxes and they make my life easier and more fun.
I just wanted to pop and let you know that last week, I re-vamped the very first pattern I ever released in my pattern shop, the Dot Dot Dash Bag. This one holds a special place in my heart because it was the first one! For the pattern revamp, I added an additional small size to the pattern, and I re-shot all of the step photos.

Today, I’d like to present my block contribution to the Splendid Sampler quilt along! My block 77 is called ‘Prism’. The pattern is available here on the Splendid Sampler website. I used various Moda fabrics to create my block, and ultimately decided on a design that was very geometric and easy to piece.
I am the October designer for Bag of the Month Club, and I’d like to introduce my contribution to the club, the Coalition Bag! I admit that I struggle with clothes. I never buy anything for myself besides t-shirts/tank tops and jeans because whenever I see anything in the store, I think, “Oh, I could make that”, or “Oh that’s so simple, I’ll just make that myself.” But guess what? Having a family and a busy life means that I find it hard to find time to sew clothing for myself. And on top of not having time, I pile on the guilt because I usually look so casual that I’m teetering on the line of being a slob. So not only do I not feel that great about how I look, but I feel guilty because I don’t have time to sew a lot of my own clothing. It’s kind of a vicious cycle.
As Bag of the Month Club for January-June drew to a close (we’re now onto July-December, which you can sign up for right here!), we had some winners to choose for the best bags! As results of a survey that the designers ran, the members did not deem the contest aspect of the club terribly important to them and so we decided to discontinue that, but for now let’s celebrate the winners! You can see all of the finalists here on Chris W. Designs!
