Acorn Wallet

Wallets, wallets, wallets…for some reason, I never wanted to tackle wallets. I’m not sure if it’s their small size, or all of the math that I knew would be involved. But I finally came up with the Acorn Wallet, and I couldn’t be happier with it!

Sew Sweetness Acorn Wallet Video+PDF Sewing Pattern

An online workshop is available to purchase for this pattern, watch the trailer below:

Online Workshop Length – 1 hour 50 minutes

This tri-fold wallet has plenty of space for credit cards, cash, and receipts. A small zippered pocket on the back is perfect for storing loose coins. This is a great essential project to make with small amounts of fabric.

Finished Size: 7-1/2” long x 4-1/4” tall x 3/4” deep (19cm x 11cm x 2cm)

Supplies Needed to Make This Wallet

  • 1/4 yard/metre OR fat quarter of quilting cotton exterior fabric
  • 1/2 yard/metre of quilting cotton lining fabric
  • 1/4 yard/metre OR fat quarter of secondary fabric *secondary fabric is just a supplemental/additional lining fabric
  • 1 yard/metre 20” wide Pellon SF-101 Shape Flex fusible woven interfacing (or med-weight fusible interfacing)
  • 1/4 yard of Decovil Heavy
  • 1/4 yard of Pellon #376 Fusible Buckram
  • 1/4 yard of Pellon fusible fleece
  • 1/4 yard of Decovil Light
  • 1/4 yard/metre Pellon P44F or PLF36 Lightweight Fusible non-woven interfacing (or other non-woven interfacing)
  • Choose One Closure: Pearl snap OR KAM snap OR 1/2” thin magnetic snap (I used a magnetic snap on my rivet press)
  • Two 9” long #3 dress/skirt zippers

The pdf pattern includes 14 pages of sewing instructions, complete with 40 step-by-step color photos.

Also included in the PDF pattern are printable pattern pieces for your home printer. The following files will all be included with your PDF pattern purchase:

  • SVG Files (for electric cutting machines, such as the Brother Scan N Cut and the Cricut Maker)
  • Projector Files (for use with home projectors for cutting out fabric; please see the group Projectors for Sewing for more information)
  • A0 Files (large-format 33″ x 46″ pattern page for printing at your local copy shop, in case you would rather not tape together the pattern pages that are included in the PDF pattern)

Optional acrylic templates are available for this pattern, in case you’d like to quickly cut out the fabric and interfacing that are needed for the project. This is especially helpful for those that make and sell bags for craft fairs or Etsy shops.

Thank you to Chera Phipbody for the lovely Acorn Wallet photos.

Check out the beautiful work from my pattern testers. They worked really hard on their bags and each one is unique!
