Another great video with helpful and clear instructions. Thank you, Sara!

  3. When did everyone stop tacking or “basting” these pesky problems into place. Then you don’t need pin karma. I have even sewn the opening closed with close basting stitches to be sure the opening and positioning were perfect. Those stitches are made in a bright and very different color so they are easy to rip or pull at the end.

Hi, do you have a pattern or tutorial for the type of pouch you used as an example – the purple floral one with 2 zippers?

    1. Sara Lawson says:

Hi Ashley, that particular pouch was part of Minikins Season Two (the Metro Double-Zip Pouch), although I have a free video/pattern for this Selvage Pouch, which you can find here: https://sewsweetness.com/2017/10/video-selvage-zipper-pouch.html?v=7516fd43adaa

Great video on sewing with zipper tabs! So helpful!

How do you sew the tab itself? I find it difficult to attach the tab with a straight seam. I prefer to use zipper tape rather than precut zippers, if that makes any difference.

    1. Sara Lawson says:

Hi Christine! Do you mean when you get to the zipper tab fabric area, that’s where you have trouble with the stitching? Is it the thickness of the fabric?

  6. Harper says:

Made a lot of “practice” bags but they were inconsistent in regard to the corners (dented corners) next to the zipper. Finally – thanks to your tutorial – understand how to have consistency by glueing those ends down. Solved every problem and frustration I had. Bag came out perfectly.

Sara, thank you so much for your clear instructions. My issue is with top stitching so the fabric stays away from the zipper. Do you top stitch the lining as well? When I do it, the inside comes out wonky.

    1. Sara Lawson says:

Hi Audrey! When topstitching, you can start and stop sewing when you reach the fabric Tabs (don’t sew all the way to the end). You’ll stitch through the exterior and lining layers. Thank you!
