#SewPINK

Hey there! Today I am participating in the #SewPINK Initiative created by my friend Annie from ByAnnie.com. Annie is pledging to raise funds to donate to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Please see the bottom of my post for more information and for lots of helpful links.

My dad’s friend, Gary, once told me, “You have to take care of your health. Your health is the most important thing that you have.” Gary is a retired fire chief and he also formerly worked for the Chicago Park District. When he said that, it really stopped me in my tracks because it seemed like such a simple thing, yet sometimes something that people take for granted. Not only is it important to eat healthy and live a healthy lifestyle, but it’s also important to visit your doctor regularly and have all of the necessary check-ups and testing done. Because if you don’t have your health – what do you have?

Today I’m sharing a couple of projects that I made using the theme of pink fabrics and notions. I made two Polaris Bags using pink as the overall theme. I used the Lipstick Pink double-pull handbag zippers from By Annie in my projects. The circle style purse was made using fabric designed by Pat Bravo for Art Gallery Fabrics, and the other bag was made using a pink Harris Tweed wool.

When I was a kid, I admit I didn’t love the color pink. I was kind of a tomboy, and I definitely didn’t want to be associated with anything pink; but now as an adult, I really love it because it’s such a bright pop of color.

Thank you so much to Annie for inviting me to be a part of the #SewPINK Initiative!

The #SewPink Initiative was created by ByAnnie.com LLC to raise awareness for breast cancer during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month. They have pledged to raise funds to donate to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation through sales and to promote action through giveaways.

Thank you for doing this. I am benefiting from cancer research as we speak. I have breast cancer and with the chemo I am also part of a trial for a new drug that is very promising. It has all become very personal to me, very quickly.

Your bags are very cute 🙂 and you are so right, we have to take care, as best we can, of this one body we were gifted. Even though we all have little flaws, we simply need to try our best. Medical testing is not exactly pleasant but give yourself a fighting chance with early detection of any problems you may have.
