FREE Faithwell Storage Bin Video+PDF Pattern

I’m very excited to introduce you to the Faithwell Storage Bin, my FREE Video+PDF Pattern to complement our Sew Sweetness Book Club discussion of Book #2. If you read the second book along with us, ‘The Last Runaway’ by Tracy Chevalier, you may remember that one of the towns in the book was Faithwell, hence the name of this free project.

These storage bins come in 3 different sizes and feature a cut-out handle on the front of the pin. They come together in about an hour and would be great to store your sewing or craft supplies.

This project was inspired by Belle Mills’ hat shop in the book. While these are not exactly hat boxes per say, they both have a similar shape, and I imagined the ribbons and notions in the hat shop having their own special place in these storage bins. The fabric that I used in my video sample was designed by Alison Glass from her ‘Sun Print’ fabric lines.

Love these bins. Will be making to organize my ribbon and lace drawer. Thinking I can get 10 to fit the drawer. Oh it will be so pretty. All in pinks and white flowers to match my sewing room. Can’t wait to get started, tomorrow. Thank you Sara for such great patterns.

I have a couple of baby showers coming up. Think I’ll make a few of these in colors that coordinate with the nursery colors and fill them with baby lotion, shampoo, wipes, wash cloth/towel, and bath supplies. Cute bins. So many uses.

I noticed that the front page references square bins. Are there pattern pieces for the square versions?

    1. Sara Lawson says:

I apologize, that is my mistake (and a typo!). The square bins will be coming another time as a separate pattern.

I’m just a tad confused. I was thinking there should be 2 handles, but I see all of your pics and this tutorial are all one handled..

  22. Rachel says:

I am confused, I wanted to download the file for my cricut maker, but all that is coming up is the round bottom. Can I not cut out the rest on the maker?

    1. sewsweetness says:

Hi Rachel! We are designing the SVG files for a 12″ x 24″ mat. Any pieces that don’t fit on the 12″ x 24″ mat will need to be cut using the measurements in the Cutting Instructions. Thank you!

  23. leoscott says:

What a wonderful project to make for families as gifts, perhaps stuffed with a few personal items for each one!

  24. Denise Jukes says:

Is there a way to make these without the handle opening? Thank you

    1. sewsweetness says:

Hello Denise! You can just omit the step for sewing the handle opening. Thank you!
