Here is a cute zipper pouch that will give you a chance to try your hand at a bit of English Paper Piecing if you haven’t done it before! I really love EPP and the flexibility it gives to work on projects when away from home – at the swimming pool while the kids are having a lesson, on the airplane, or in a hotel room.
Before watching the video, please download the pattern pieces here:
Download – Hexi Zipper Pouch Pattern
The video will be posted here after the live show on Tuesday at 7pm CT on Facebook and YouTube.
These are the supplies that I used in making this project:
- Fusible and Water-Soluble Applique Papers
- Glue Marker
- Glue Refills
- Tulip Needles
- Superior 60wt thread
Need more of an EPP fix? I highly recommend these classes from Helen Stubbings called ‘Quick & Easy English Paper Piecing’ and ‘English Paper Piecing: Beyond the Basics’.
Happy sewing!
Beautiful bags! I love your videos! Just recently found them.
I love yous videos.i also just found them.
I love working with hexies. Thank you for this nice pattern .
Hi Sara, your videos are the best resource to learn from! I was wondering if I wanted to make a larger bag, perhaps double the width, what’s the best way to create a new pattern piece for the bag? Thank you so much! Katie x
Hi Kate! since this pouch is just front/back pieces, you can easily print out the pattern piece to a bigger size; you’ll just need to adjust the length of the zipper as well. Thank you!
What is the name of the material that the hexes get sewn to? I don’t think it is fusible paper, but that is what I see on the materials list.
Hi Susan! We sell the fusible papers in the shop: https://sewsweetness.com/products/fusible-papers
If you prefer not to use fusible papers, some people like to use cardstock, although that will need to be removed by hand once your pieces are stitched together.
Thank you!
