Finished Milky Way Sampler Quilt

I am very excited to finish up this quilt; I’ve been following along with the Milky Way Sampler quilt along at Blossom Heart Quilts. I love foundation paper-piecing, and star blocks in particular, so this quilt was right up my alley. The blocks are very straightforward, and I think even someone new to foundation paper-piecing would be able to accomplish this quilt with a bit of patience. I just love how the quilt turned out.

For the quilt top, I used all fabrics by Alison Glass. Alison has a ton of monochromatic prints as part of her numerous Sun Prints fabric lines, and the background fabrics are all white tonal fabrics (she has a lot of those as well, which made for a really interesting background). The backing of the quilt is one of many, many Tula Pink quilt backings that I have in my stash (you can find these one-of-a-kind quilt backings at iHeartTulaPink).

I made this quilt as a shower gift for my brother and his wife, who are expecting their first child next month. As this quilt was intended for a baby, I left off the borders in the quilt pattern in order to make it a slightly smaller quilt. Their nursery theme is woodland creatures, and so the sleeping fox backing (“Cozy Boy”) fit perfectly.

I very much enjoyed making this quilt, and my parents took it over to Colorado for the baby shower. Hopefully it is a hit in the nursery!
