Byebye Love Bag

ByeBye Love Cover

Even though this pattern was already available in my pattern shop, I just got the printed version back from my printer yesterday, so I figured this would be a good chance to blog about the pattern. This is my Byebye Love Bag sewing pattern (of course available as pdf and on paper), which was previously part of the Bag of the Month Club. The club was from January-June 2014, and we will be running the club again in January 2015. It was a 6-month club in which members received a brand new bag pattern each month. This was my contribution to the club, and for the paid version, I decided to slightly update the pattern and also add the small-sized bag to the templates and instructions. The small bag is minus the front pockets that the large bag has, so the small size is a quicker sew (but just as beautiful!).

I wrote this pattern last year, and for its debut I think it’s fitting that the pattern is made using Tula Pink ‘Moonshine’, with coordinating Moonshine ribbons from Renaissance Ribbons (these bags will be featured in the Renaissance Ribbons booth at Quilt Market next month, as well as Byebye Love bags made in the blue colorway and ribbons). I used the grosgrain Moonshine ribbons to trim the bottoms of both bags, and here’s a close-up of how pretty they look. The ribbons are available in 5/8″ sizes all the way up to 1-1/2″ wide.

Both bags have topstitched lining pockets, however, the large version has a back zippered pocket on the exterior of the bag.

Finished Size: Small {12” long x 10” tall x 5-1/2” deep}                        Large {13” long x 14” tall x 5-1/2” deep}

Supplies (will make either the small or the large bag)

  • 1 yard of Exterior Fabric (for large bag) –OR- 1/2 yard of Exterior Fabric (for small bag)
  • 1 yard of solid fabric (for large bag) –OR- 1/2 yard of solid fabric (for small bag) for the handles/pocket accents

  • 12” zipper
  • 22” zipper
  • Two 1/2” magnetic snaps (for large bag only)

    Those Tula Pink fabrics are so vibrant and beautiful for bags! This is a nice design, and the fact that you also have a smaller size is really a plus for the pattern. I’m thinking about doing the Bag of the Month Club this year–looking forward to when it starts! 🙂
