I am pretty picky about my magazines; I like to see projects in similar fabrics that I would use myself, and I like to see interesting and unique sewing or quilting patterns. The pattern don’t necessarily have to be challenging, but I’d like to see at least more than one in an issue that I could see myself making. One of my favorite magazines is Love Patchwork and Quilting; it’s a great magazine from the UK. I started subscribing around when Issue 3 came out (and I just got Issue 9 in the mail the other day). Although you can also find them at local stores (Barnes and Noble, etc.), I wanted the convenience of getting them at home, since I was buying all the issues anyway; plus each month the magazine always comes with a free ‘present’ (cute heart pins, measuring tape, EPP papers, supplies to make a needle book, etc.).
Issue 10 is due out June 25th in the UK (and mid-July for the rest of the world), and I have a pattern in that issue; it’s actually the first magazine pattern that I made in my new Jungle Ave. fabrics. This is a beginner-friendly pattern that features half-square triangles and a lovely pleated center. There is also optional purse feet on the bottom of the bag, and make your own handles using a bit of purse hardware!
I had a lot of fun making this bag, and I have to say…can’t I just hire the staff of LPQ to photograph *all* my bags? Because my pictures never turn out nearly as great. 😉

Great news is that the special surprise for Issue 10 is that there is an 18-page pattern booklet from Jeni Baker featuring her new Dreamin’ Vintage fabric! I’m definitely looking forward to this issue, Jeni’s designs are always fresh and fun!
So cool, congratulation for your bag in this Magazine!!! Great fabrics 🙂
ah, and I forgot to tell, that I love your new blog!!!
Congratulations Sara for having your bag published in the magazine. I will check out the magazine as I hadn’t seen it before. Thanks for the info.
I love that magazine, Congratulations, it looks like a beautiful bag for them to have in it.
Your bag pattern spurred me on to finally subscribing to Love Patchwork and Quilting. I actually won a fabric bundle on Facebook from them earlier this year, so I think it is my duty to subscribe. 🙂
Your bag is beautiful. The colours are so clean and fresh. Congratulations!!!!! and love the new look blog.
congrats!
Sara, I love this ! The colours are right up my street, so fresh and the design is just lovely – the pleated bit in the middle really sets the whole bag off – I will definitely be buying issue 10 just for this pattern alone !
Hurrah! And to think that this morning I nearly went into the store to buy that Quilting Magazine and didn’t…now I know to wait for issue 10 next week!
Great looking bag and I subscribe to this magazine, too. In fact, the feather quilt on the front of the latest issue is on my to-do list.
Such a cute bag…love the pleats. I’ve been getting the magazine on my iPad..wondering if I should change to a print edition????
Fabulous bag.Congratulations on being published and more to come!!
Sweet bag. I finally found that magazine locally so hope to be able to get it regular ; )
You always make every bag special. The pleats are such a cool detail. I am going to try that magazine.
Congrats Sara…LOVE your bag and especially with your fabrics….it looks so fresh! GORGEOUS! 🙂
I shall look forward to it dropping through the door 🙂
I would love to try that pleating. Your color choices are brilliant as usual. I have yet to see your fabrics in person, and I hope to soon so many great things have been made with Jungle Ave – Thank you for sharing and I’ll look for this magazine. I have bought a couple of issues, and the subscription special seems like a good deal. I’m not really into subscribing so many issues of other magazines I don’t find anything I would use or want to make, I tend to page through at the store and then buy the ones I want. But this one might be worth my subscription.
Love the bag and the fabric. Congrats on being published. I think I’ll try a subscription. I’ve let all my others lapse. The magazines were coming faster than I could read. Work gets in the way ;o)
It’s beautiful bag
That’s one magazine I haven’t subscribed too but I may have to now.
Thanks for sharing. I love the bag
