Kim – I had so much fun playing with Pat Sloan’s Bobbins and Bits this weekend! It was gray and chilly and these colors just completely brightened my mood! Hoping I can catch up with the blocks I am now behind on before Thanksgiving.
Gina – Hey Quilters! We are still in the Squares chapter. Block # 76 is only 11 pieces and went together pretty easy. I am still spending more time fussy cutting that I am sewing.
For this block I fussy cut a snail out of a jelly roll scrap of Tula Pink Flutterby. I decided to fussy cut a little tree trunk for the bottom square too.
Sometimes when I fussy cut a block I am taking the “direction” of the fabric into consideration. This block is going to have strips going vertically and horizontally and so I cut the fabric in both directions to make sure the pieces all face the same direction when the block is sewn together. I starch and iron these bigger pieces before cutting the exact size I need.
Block #77 was really easy play in color theory. I think I picked out about 4 different versions before settling on this one that used some Plume that I had not yet put into the quilt. I say this a lot, but this is another block that I would love to make over and over for a quilt or to blow up into a mega size version. This would also be a great design for piecing the back of a quilt.
When I cut out Block #78 I have to admit I was a little confused and thought I had cut a couple of the pieces the wrong size. It is so hard to see how all of these blocks are going to fit together just right, but somehow like magic they do.
I couldn’t help but use this fun polka dot print even though it is a little bit thicker kokka canvas. I just made my seam allowances a bit scant to make up for the extra bulk.
3 more blocks to add to the pile! Looking forward to seeing your blocks this week.
Sara – I can’t believe how close we are to finishing! These Square Blocks have been my favorite so far as far as assembly time goes – they are indeed very fast!
Block 76
My Block 77 this week gave me a flashback to some of the blocks that I had to assemble for Tula’s Butterfly Quilt; but of course, I only had to assemble one of these, as opposed to the several for the Butterfly Quilt, which made me breath a huge sigh of relief!
Block 77
Block 78
And here’s my huge stack of blocks so far, sitting on top of my background fabric! I think I will start piecing the top before the end of the month, or at least, the rows that can already be assembled.
So, if you are sewing along at home, be sure to link up ONLY blocks 76, 77, and 78 in this post (you will have time to link up your other blocks in future posts). Please link up separately for each block. As a reminder, you can link to your blog post, Flickr, or wherever else you are hosting your pictures. You must link up here on this post in order to be eligible for the monthy prize, to be awarded on November 30th!

I love foundation paper-piecing, and so when I saw that Carl Hentsch of 3 Dog Design was coming out with a new book called 'New York Beauties and Flying Geese', I knew I'd be making a quilt from the book.
I had a hard time choosing which quilt that I wanted to make, they all looked fabulous, but I finally...

I love Tula Pink. I love everything that she designs and comes out with, and I buy it all because it's gorgeous and I have to have it. Today, I'm presenting the Tudor Bag, a 'choose-your-own-sewing-adventure' bag sewing pattern, available now in my pattern shop as a pdf pattern! I think the the absence of sewing curves makes this more pleasing for a beginner (plus it's a really modern shape for a bag!).
So here is what makes this bag a choose-your-own-adventure:

Front Handles (choose Front Handles, Shoulder...
Before I tell you more about the dress that I made, I have to tell you a very sweet story. It sort of makes my eyes well up thinking about it. Last month, I had a booth at Quilt Market. I had a small amount of my new fabric to work with; I still wanted to make and display...

Today's post is from Kate. I met Kate when she used to live in Chicago and signed up to take one of my classes; she showed up with her Aeroplane Bag carrying all of her supplies, and I knew she was a keeper. ;-)
