Kickstarter…Take 2

Soo…maybe you saw lately that I was trying to raise money to start a women’s clothing sewing pattern operation (if not, you can see my previous post here). I had to re-evaluate because I could already see at the initial stages that my goal was a bit too high. I am sorry to all of those that spent time funding my goal. :-/

I have posted a *new* Kickstarter (since they do not allow you to edit your goal once you’ve posted it), with a new goal to cover the cost of the garment drafting software only, and allow me to produce the patterns as pdf files to sell online. Your Kickstarter donation is basically a pre-order on the patterns, which you will receive hopefully next summer.

If you funded my initial attempt, I hope you will fund again (pretty pretty please!). And if you didn’t see my Kickstarter project last time, I hope you will fund me! I am so earnest in creating clothing sewing patterns…please help me do it!!

You can make a pledge and read more about my Kickstarter campaign here.

Thank you so much, I love you all for all of your support and kind words!! Please tweet or facebook me and help a girl out. 🙂

  1. I think I recognize your photo location: the blue line el, at Cumberland?
That’s where I grew up! Sorry to hijack your comments, but I couldn’t help myself. 😉
Good luck with your Kickstarter project!

    Yay!

Ahh, I was going to ask you about that when the cancellation notice for the first one came in!

Happy to be a backer! Hey, can we all get together for Mocha Fraps? (although I prefer Carmel-Mocha, LOL!)

    Hi Sara,

What a exciting New Venture!! I have scheduled some Tweets for you, and alerted Madame Samm as she has a Blog that she Promotes Blog events on. I am going to do FB as well and will be back to donate before this closes.

  8. What pattern software are you hoping to purchase? I’ve looked into pattern software but there are so many different ones!

Hope you make your goal – I kicked in for $15. Smart move by Kickstarter to go through Amazon payments. Nice and easy!

    Hi Sara,

I just discovered your blog this morning, and you’re definitely going in my bookmarks! I’d like to ask about the dress you’re wearing in this photo. It’s GORGEOUS! Is it one of your patterns? If it’s an example of what you’d be putting on your software, I’m very excited. I’m going to check out your Kickstarter today (especially awesome if it’s through Amazon payments!). If the pattern’s not one of yours, and you’re allowed, do you mind sharing what pattern you used?

(As I was looking around a bit, I ran across your reviews for the Amy Butler Style Stitches book. I was so excited to see your bags – I love that book and have made the Cosmo and the Pom Pom Hobo. The Hobo didn’t turn out very well, I will have to try it again, but I love my Cosmo! I get tons of compliments on it, and whenever I start using another bag, I always go back to Cosmo within just a couple of days! Even bought fabric yesterday to make another one!)

Anyways, sorry for the tangent. Love your blog, and high hopes for your Kickstarter!

Sorry, am posting as anonymous. It’s been YEARS since I’ve used LJ or AIM, and I can’t remember the passwords…!

Sara, is the dress you are wearing a pattern you are talking about? i LOVE it. I’ve been looking at Shabby Apple, but
1: I can’t afford it right now, and
2: I don’t think anything will fit properly.

I’m 5′ exactly and have 5 extra pounds I don’t want sticking to me. That dress is BEAUTIFUL and is the exact style I want. Plus I want to learn how to sew clothes/dresses for myself to wear. There is so much beautiful fabric in the world and I’m 33 and feel like I’m too old for most of the stuff I find shopping. I grew up in the 80’s and I’m not down to revisit neon clothing. I have red hair and it doesn’t mix well with neon. I’m not working right now, but I promise I will donate to you, once I start working again. I really think you have a lot of talent.

    Thanks so much,
    Karrie

I just saw the post Kathy did on your call for help. So I traded in my end of the month DVD (aye I include that in my monthly budget) and some of my chocolate (don’t worry I have a nutella jar for emergencies) for a future pattern from you.
    Good Luck with your goal!!

For petite women who have larger behinds, shorter legs, smaller waists and generally normal sized busts, it is crucial to look for more fitted clothing. Looser clothing may make the torso look larger than it actually is, and the hips and butt area wider than it may look in more fitted attire. Generally speaking, small women with these types of bodies have a very feminine shape, and articles of clothing such as dresses, high waist skirts, and loose professional fitted pants look the best on them.
