This is my bag review for the AWESOME Purse Palooza event going on over at Sew Sweetness! I was supposed to have this completed October 1st…did not happen. Did not even come close to happening. I was planing on making the Lilium Laptop Bag but in my mind I had envisioned that the compass I made was going to fit on the flap and I was WRONG! I looked through all the other bags and then called Sara. This happens every time I make a bag since I am not a bag maker and she knows everything there is to know about bags. I knew she would walk me through finding the “right” bag for my block and not make me feel like a complete idiot.
I am really excited to introduce you to my third pattern, the Paper-pieced Sunrise Clutch! I have been on a real paper-piecing kick lately. Although the blocks take a bit more time than regular quilt piecing, the results are often amazing…paper-piecing provides sharp points and angles that you often could never get from regular piecing.

How many blocks have you made from the New York Beauty Quilt Along? There have been *so* many blocks posted to the Flickr Group, it’s amazing!!
Today is the tutorial for Block 2 from amylouwho? She has a great tutorial for you on how to make this sharp-looking points (and a bonus: you can use your iPad screen to line up your fabrics, lol!). I love the pretty Amy Butler fabrics that she used for her block, the perfect shades of blue!
Next Monday will be the last block in the series!
Welcome to Week 7, Block 3 of the New York Beauty Quilt Along! The last few blocks are looming on the horizon! How many have you done?? If you’re just joining and would like to catch up on the blocks, feel free, and post your questions and progress to the Flickr Group!
Welcome to Week 6 of the New York Beauty Quilt Along! The blocks have just been zipping by, and thanks for all your hard work! If you’re just joining and would like to catch up on the blocks, feel free, and post your questions and progress to the Flickr Group!
I apologize everyone, I’m a day behind at posting this! This is Week 5 of the quilt along, and this week’s block (Block 7) is a tutorial brought to you by Jeni of In Color Order. Stop on over here for the full tutorial!

The tutorial for today is from Kati of From the Blue Chair. The tutorial for her block, Block 8, can be found here. This block has very thin points, and it looks highly effective using the paper piecing technique!

I had a great time playing with this block! I’m using Kona solids for mine, so I decided to pair the fabrics that I used for my previous blocks, with the same colors, but slightly lighter, to make those outer points really pop. Super fun, and after last week’s block, this one didn’t have as many segments to piece!
Hi everyone! Welcome to the 2nd week of the New York Beauty Quilt Along! I am very excited to bring you a tutorial for Block 5! You can find the paper piecing template for the block here. This template will make an 8″ finished block. This was my favorite block of the series, and I love it because there is so much going on visually.

I have my block all finished; I’m on a mission to stay motivated throughout this whole series and make myself a quilt! As you can see by my photo, I’m making 4 of each block. I’m really enjoying the solids with the gray text background.
