NEW PATTERN: Amethyst Project Bag

The Amethyst Project Bag started out as a request from my daughter on Christmas morning. She had gotten a stack of drawing books and sketch pads from Santa, and she wanted some sort of bag to hold them all. So we sat down and came up a plan, and I told her that I would come up with a sewing pattern and make her bag. A few hours later, she came back and asked me where her bag was. Haha, I’m fast but I’m not that fast! I had some projects to wrap up at the beginning of the year, but I finally got around to my daughter’s pattern and she was super excited to see the finished bag (she was quite a bit disappointed that I had to ‘borrow’ her bag to do the photoshoot yesterday while she was in school).

The Amethyst Project Bag sewing pattern is available now in pdf and paper pattern format in my pattern shop.

The lining features a zippered pouch, mesh zippered pocket, and elastics for holding pens or other items. The bottom of the case has an elastic buckle strap to hold quilt blocks, books, and rulers.

Sara, Like your daughter, I have many art supplies that I sometimes need to carry. I’ll make at least one amethyst bag for my art stuff. I may make a second bag for my in progress sewing projects. My stash even has enough fabric for the outside of the bag, but I might need to buy fabric for the lining and I KNOW I’ll need to buy most of the notions and supplies.

I have 9 inch zippers on hand also… which will do for the smallest zipper. I might just buy a roll of zipper to accomodate the long one and the mid-length zipper, which will be easier than trying to round up the proper length zippers

I have Black Nylon Heavy Webbing Strap that I’ll use for the handles, which I believe to be sturdier than the fabric I plan to use.

I love this! I have to think on how I could make it a little bigger to hold a pair of shoes, some clothing, etc. We attend the LDS Temple and take a bag with all our white clothing…this would be great!
