Just in time for some quick holiday gift sewing is the Kismet Trinket Boxes sewing pattern, now available in PDF, Paper Pattern, and German PDF Pattern format! This new pattern is part of my ‘Value Series’ of $5 patterns! With less than 20 sewing steps, this pattern is quick and fun to sew!
Today is officially my birthday, so I’m excited to share this new pattern with you! I want to sew a million of these!!
This fat-quarter-friendly pattern includes 6 different sizes/shapes of zippered trinket boxes, perfect to hold whatever supplies your heart desires! Each shape will also nest. With minimal pieces to cut out and less than 20 sewing steps, the Kismet Trinket Boxes come together quickly and make the perfect gift!
Finished Size:
- small square- 5” long x 3-1/2” tall x 3” deep
- medium square – 6” long x 4” tall x 4” deep
- large square – 8” long x 5” tall x 5” deep
- small round – 12” circumference x 4” tall
- medium round – 13” circumference x 4-3/4” tall
- large round – 15-1/2” circumference x 5” tall
The boxes on the cover of the pattern were made with Moda ‘Dottie’ fabrics; I had a fat quarter bundle in my stash that I had previously purchased at Westwood Acres Fabric, and the bundle was perfect for this project – I had a ton of fun making these rainbow boxes!
These boxes are great for pretty much anything you can think of – sewing supplies, Legos, make-up, buttons, a little bit of hand-sewing – you name it! What would you put in yours??
Each shape will nest with all 3 sizes, so this pattern would also be perfect to make a full set as a gift! The large square will fit a full fat quarter bundle, as pictured below – great for shop samples or to gift your best sewing buddy a fat quarter bundle.
Funny story about this pattern is that I came upon the idea (while I was sleeping, as ideas often come to me) the week before Thanksgiving. Somehow, I knew this pattern needed to be released in time for holiday sewing, but that didn’t leave me much time to write the pattern, let alone have it tested. My amazing pattern testers came through as they always do, but with way less sewing time before I needed to get the pattern off to the printer. So a huge thank you to my pattern testers for not only turning in beautiful work, but bearing with my frazzled production schedule this time around! I hope you enjoy their lovely Kismet Trinket Boxes!

Happy birthday! I read the post a few days ago about your upcoming new pattern release and your upcoming new Value Series – I’m very excited about both 🙂 I grabbed Kismet a few minutes ago and can’t wait to try it out 🙂 Your testers did an awesome job on their bags – the samples are awesome (and the photography is awesome too – I need to step up my game!) – I hope your kismet is to sell a ton of patterns 🙂
Happy Birthday, Sara! You’ve already made your day memorable. May every future Kismet Trinket Box remind you of today!
Happy Birthday! I am 69 and every day is my birthday. The little trinket boxes are adorable! I want the pattern. I will order it today! Joy…with the name Joy, I have to be happy.
A question before I order: does the German pattern use inch measurements and seam allowance (which would be perfect) or cm?
These are adorable!!! Just placed my order and can’t wait to make some to give as gifts (and a few for me as well lol!!!)
What size zippers do you need for each box? Do you need a zipper foot? Can you make them with invisible zippers?
