This is the Clarity Bag, the only bag in my new book Windy City Bags, out December 1, 2015, that makes use of some fun store-bought leather handles. It is available on Amazon and in my pattern shop (books purchased from my shop will be signed by me, ship for free in the U.S. and with discounted international shipping, and you’ll receive a FREE paper pattern from my shop of your choice, an $11 value!).
The unique thing about the Clarity Bag is that while it is definitely a three-dimensional bag, it only has a front and back fabric panel, which are spread apart over a somewhat oval bag base. The leather handles are hand-sewn onto the front and back while they are still flat.
If you’ve ever made a zipper pouch before, the top zip closure of this bag is assembled in just that same way, making it an easy and quick project for any skill of bag-maker. For the sample bag, I used a Tula Pink print from her ‘Salt Water’ fabric line. What fun are these octopuses!
This second version was pattern tested by Holli. This seed packet print is so timeless, and the pink leather handles add a nice coordinating touch!
I hope you’ve been enjoying these continued looks at the bag from Windy City Bags!
Where can I find that fabulous seed packet material please. It is fabulous and my dil would love that bag with that material! She’s a pink girl.
Can’t wait until I get my book and free pattern, then I will have the whole collection.
I love this design! I can’t wait for the book. I put it on my Christmas list, so fingers crossed.
I have to have this book.
Ok, now you really have my attention. This is one good-looking bag that can be formal or folksy. Love it!
