Purse Palooza – Pattern Review – Sew Sweetness Tudor Bag

Tudor Bag 1This post is part of Purse Palooza 2015. For full details and contest rules, check here.
Today’s post is from Gosia of Quilt My Way.

Hi! I’m Gosia, a quilter from Quilts My Way. Being asked by Sara to participate in this year’s Purse Palooza was such an honor.

If you know my work at all, you already know how much I adore Sara’s patterns. I am using her free patterns on my workshops and sometimes I test the new one.

For this post I chose the Tudor bag pattern. I chose this pattern, because I need big bag for a teenage (for her school books and notebooks).

☐Front Handles (you can choose Front Handles, Shoulder Strap, or Both)

☐Shoulder Strap

Modifications

I’ve made some modifications to my bag. I’ve added length to the shoulder strap. My bag is for a very tall girl and she needs a longer strap to use it across.

The other change that I made was that I decided to add an accents to the front part of bag. I wanted to create a front part for a teenage girl. I think the bag in a pattern is perfect for older girls, but not for a teenage.

Instead of Annie’s Soft and Stable (it is not available where I live) I chose to use InRFoam Plus by Bosal.

From many options which Sara gave to choice I chose:

Review

I am really happy that I had opportunity to sew the Tudor Bag!

I would definitely recommend this pattern and I am quite certain that I will make this bag again (for myself). I have made many purses and bags in the past and I think this bag is the one of the most practical. The pattern has a lot of possibilities of alternating the pattern.

I’d rate the difficulty as Intermediate and higher. As long as you can follow instructions you should be good to go!

I love the fabric choices and the accents on the front of the bag. I just purchased this pattern a couple of weeks ago and am in the process of making it now. I made a couple of modifications as well. I extended the length of the bag to accomodate a 17″ long laptop, I squared off the ends rather than tappered and added a center zippered divider. Great pattern, easy to follow. I’m making this bag for a friend but now I want one too!
