Promise Ring Backpack

Sew Sweetness Promise Ring Backpack sewing pattern

I’m delighted to show you the newest pattern to join my pattern shop, the Promise Ring Backpack! I designed this as a small purse-style backpack that would allow you to be out and about this summer while being hands-free, but it also makes an adorable child’s backpack!

The backpack features solid accents to make your feature fabric pop! The straps are adjustable and clipped to the sides of the backpack. A flap with a magnetic snap closure keeps your belongings safe, and there is a zippered pocked in the lining to store your cell phone.

For my sample, I used an out-of-print fabric by Tula Pink from her ‘Flutterby’ line; this is one of my favorite prints ever. The lining fabric is also by Tula Pink, from ‘Acacia’. I used 40wt. Aurifil thread to make the bag, and the purse hardware is my branded Sew Sweetness Purseware, which you can find at your local quilt shop or in my online shop.

A few weeks ago I had the chance to give this bag a road-test when I went along on my 8-year-old son’s field trip to the zoo. With so many little ones milling about, I didn’t want to have to worry about a bag on my shoulder, so I took the Promise Ring Backpack along. It fit both of our lunches and all of the usual things I would normally put in my purse (wallet, cell phone, etc.). It was easy to carry and honestly at times I forgot I was wearing it. It was the perfect bag to bring along on the trip.
