For a coat for myself, I would most certainly choose a wool blend in gray/blue hues or camel/brown, my favorites.
Wow, I really love this coat! Perhaps every color?! I think I’d love one in a navy blue, but I’d have to look around and touch and feel to decide the type of fabric.

I always wear wool coats! At the moment I’m thinking a dark purple.

What cute patterns! It’s been a couple of years since I made a proper coat, but I do have a peachy pink wool in my stash that would fit the bill well.
I have a lavender wool pea coat that is wearing thin and needs replaced. I love bright colors in the winter.

I made myself a classic black wool coat this winter using Gertie’s coat pattern for Butterick, but my next coat should be a happy color, like mint, blue, red or pink.
I think I would make a coat out of fleece or wool. Something bright and pretty, with deep pockets.
Literally crazy about the Peppernoot coat. I live in Minnesota, so fur on anything usually comes in handy!
The Pepernot coat is really beautiful. The speckled red/white fabric perfect for that design. I don’t need a coat now, but if I were to make it, I would use something similar.

I just got some sample fabrics from Mood. I have been thinking about making a coat but knew I needed to save some money to make it happen the way I want. I have my eyes on a nice red plaid wool and then a really beautiful black virgin wool. I think they would both make lovely coats but have to pick one to start with…
I would like to make the Cookie Zipper pattern in a nice lightweight green twill! I just bought one of her patterns last week (Carmel Hooded coat), it would be awesome to get two more.

I have this really nice and heavy but soft upholstery fabric that is white with black polka dots that I would love to make into a coat.

I actually have a coat pattern and fabric all ready to make! I’ve chosen a gorgeous plum and cream rounded chevron wool blend, and I’m making a 1960’s rereleased Burda pattern. 🙂

I would choose a wool or wool blend, and the color would be black. For heavier jackets, the only color better than black is a darker shade of black. 🙂 Or, it would be interesting to try in denim.

I’ve always wanted to make a jacket where the vest would be white faux fur and then have black waffle weave sleeves.
For my coat, I’m not sure what black fabric I’d have for the outside, buit I’d make sure the inside has a fleecy white lining.
My next coat to be sewn will be woolen burgundy 🙂
