Dress Up Party – Pattern Giveaway – Sew Chic

DressUpParty

Today’s giveaway sponsor is Sew Chic Pattern Company. With more than forty years of sewing experience (including for television and movie costuming), Laura Nash brings a high level of expertise to her pattern making and it shows. The vintage styling and attention to detail make them stand out from the crowd. There are 20 patterns in collection, including dresses, skirts, tops and accessories. Sew Chic will be giving away three patterns to today’s winner!

Here are just a few favorites:sewchic1The Pretty Petticoat is one of those wardrobe staples you didn’t realize you needed until you had it. I use my petticoat all the time to go underneath dresses – it really makes them look special. And wouldn’t it be fun to see a pop of color on a bright petticoat underneath a dress? I’m thinking I might make a hot pink one.

The Ehlen Blouse is another great wardrobe possibility. I especially love the cut-out on the sleeve and the button detailing. This would be great to wear with a pencil skirt.

sewchic3

The Pendleton is a class retro-inspired dress is a fitted style with an assymetrical neckline. Available in 3/4 and bell sleeves, this pattern gives several options for customization.

sewchic4

The Tia Dress is my very favorite of the bunch. This is a very fun style that would be great made up in your favorite quilting cotton print. The trim on the bodice is echoed in the pockets and also at the hem of the skirt.

And Fifth Avenue is quite a classical and elegant style. This would be great to wear to a wedding or other formal event.

I love 40s and 50s style. But I don’t wear those styles as often as I wish I did. I have been wanting a couple of those dresses Sew Chic, but was waiting until I had the time before I purchased. I guess winning would make it happen sooner rather than later!

  26. Shannon Snyder says:

I really love the versatility we have in the modern era to dress as we wish with all the options of history available to us, but the fit and flare of the 50’s really suits me 🙂

  48. emmabeaty95 says:

I definitely prefer the 1950’s. They were so classy and elegant! Once fashion began transitioning into the mid to late ’60’s it became too modern for my taste. Early ’60’s still had enough of the previous decade’s influence to earn my approval.

  50. Doris McCarty says:

    The 50’s

  51. 64colorbox says:

I love anything with a corset, late 1800s early 1900s. Not that I make or wear these items. I would love to be able to wear the 50s fashions, but my bust to waist ratio doesn’t allow that look to be flattering.

I thought the women looked so elegant in the 1940s!

  62. Terry D says:

I love the look of Art Deco and bohemian, so maybe the 20’s and 30’s. But to wear, I’m definitely 70’s jeans and t-shirts. I can’t remember the last time I wore a dress just because.
