The Dahlia, is a fun new pattern that has a classic silhouette and is the perfect dress no matter the season. Sizes 0-26, this is a beginner pattern. This dress has two sewable versions. V1 has ¾ raglan style sleeves, flat front with a kick pleat at the back hem. The small gathers create curves around the waist yoke. V2 is the summer version, straps from bias tape, a six-panel skirt.
The Moneta is the new go-to dress. This is a simple knit dress that works for any occasion. Sizes range from XS-3XL this dress has three variations, V1 is sleeveless, lined bodice with a narrow round collar that laps in the back. V2 is an unlined bodice with short sleeves, or V3 which is an unlined bodice with ¾ length sleeves. This is also a beginner garment that is made from stretch knit.
The Myrtle, one of the most flattering garments for a bigger bust. This dress can be made from stretch knit or woven fabric. The sizes range from XS – 3XL, and is a beginner pattern. This dress has an amazing neckline which is a drapey cowl neck. A elasticized waist and gathered skirt.. oh did I mention it also has pockets! This really is a great dress for the office or for going out with the girls. It’s just beautiful!
The Laurel, this is a fantastic shift dress that is easy to sew with a semi-loose fit with bust darts. This ranges in sizes from 0-18, a great beginner garment. You can easily play with prints that are normally are a bit difficult to work with. There are four variations of this garment. This pattern can also be made into a pullover blouse!
And last but not least, the Negroni, a men’s classic shirt that is slightly more on the fitted side. It has 2 sleeve lengths and can be made in a variety of fabrics. This shirt is a great way to get into sewing menswear. The instructions will easily guide you on all the small details. This pattern ranges in sizes from XS-2XL, it’s an intermediate pattern, but it’s definitely worth making.
Thank you for reading and make sure to get yourself into the drawing, it will run for 2 days. Remember you will win TWO amazing PDF patterns from Colette!

I seldom sew for myself (I sew mostly for my daughter) and carefully plan color/fabric/pattern beforehand, so I only sew garments that really fit my wardrobe colors and styles. So no, no problems accessorizing my sewn garments!
Yes everytime!
I tend to keep my accessories neutral … black, navy, taupe shoes. Gold/silver jewelry. It’s all very interchangeable with my sewn garments.
No, shoes an accessories don’t seem to be a problem matching to handmade garments.
I don’t think I do but my daughter says I do. I tend to be to matchy matchy.
It has been decades since I have made clothing, but I would love to get back into it! I have some beautiful fabric that would work for some of these patterns and I would also like to make my hubby shirts! The goes through collars with his rough beard (he shaves, but still kills the collars) and maybe if I made the shirt I could learn how to replace collars!!
Yes, I have too many statement pieces, both in sewn items and accessories, so its hard to match them.
Ni, I don’t wear jewelry and I always wear the same shoes! 😉
This is me. I wish i was me creative but it does save time!
My accessories are all pretty basic and neutral, so they mix and match with most of what I sew!
My hubby and i travel a lot and I lose lots of jewelry, so I usually just have some basic pieces that go with anything.
I wish I could be better at accessorizing all of my outfits. I’m really enjoying the Dress Up Party! I’m hoping that I’ll have a dress to contribute at the end.
I don’t really accessorise my garments much. I don’t wear any jewellery and I have pretty much just enough shoes for most weather we’re getting where I live, so I seldom get to choose what to wear with my clothes.
I keep my jewelry neutral, so I think it goes with everything I’ve sewn! I could use a big chunky necklace for some more open necklines.
I’m more about the clothes, less about the accessories. I have some basic things, shoes and purses, that I switch between. I usually pick my jewelry more by how I feel that day, and less about matching.
Dahlia & Moneta looks the must-have patterns!!! Love them!!
Not at all! My only problem is that I spend all my money on fabric so there’s none left over for shoes and jewelry 🙂
My accessories are all fairly neutral and I tend towards more classic clothing styles, so I don’t have any trouble coordinating. I love to throw in a pop of color or pattern with shoes!
No, I don’t. But then I only own 3 pairs of shoes and never wear jewellery or carry a bag, so that might have something to do with it!
I don’t, but I don’t wear a lot of jewelry. I try to keep it neutral. And I have quite a few pairs of shoes to choose from, so that’s not really a problem!
Not really, I just wear what I want to wear
I try to only choose fabrics for garments that I have shoes for. It seems to work most of the time.
no not really, I rarely wear juwellery and I have a lot of shoes so I can always find a pair that suits my handmade garment.
No, I don’t have a problem as I’m equally happy to wear clashing or co-ordinating accessories, which tends to cover most eventualities!
Particularly drawn to the Colette’s patterns. I like her simple lines and the sleeve options…I prefer sleeves. Again, thanks for the chance to win some cool patterns. The man’s shirt brought back memories of when I used to make a lot of western shirts for my husband.
Nope. I have so much jewelry to choose from — something usually works.
Love the size options for these patterns!
No, that is the fun part. Love the pattern options you offer.
I feel like I have a tough time accessorizing any outfit, whether I’ve made it or not!
I think I could make every! single Colette pattern 10 times over and still want to make more of them! Great patterns, with great detail
lol…I am so basic & easy going…wear what I want…and am comfy with myself in 🙂
I have a hard time with both. A back surgery (or two, but who’s counting, really) has left me with very narrow choices when it comes to footwear, particularly the dressier footwear. As for jewelry,, I tend to go with understated and classic pieces, but I also have a few crazy obnoxious pins, a few sets of some plastic-y goodness retro earring/necklace sets, and too any pairs of earrings that really should belong to a 13 year old girl. So as a rule, I try to stick with silver all the way, or gold all the way when dressing for occasions.
Nope, I keep everything pretty basic.
My main problem is shoes. I have tiny feet and have trouble finding shoes that look good without hurting horribly! That’s why I live in my sneakers.
Not too much. I have a lot of basic pieces that seem to fit the few pieces of apparel I’ve sewn so far.
I keep my jewelry really simple so a lot of what I have goes with anything. So, I would have to say no.
When it comes to jewelry, I seem to have a lot, but never quite what I wish I had. I’m alright on the shoe front, although I could always use more!!
Not really. If I did it would be because I finally went crazy with all the colorful prints – so I Wish I had that problem!
Um yes!
I only own coloured shoes (we’re talking bright red pumps, and boots and green doc martens!) so half the time my clothes clash horribly with them… but over the years I’ve learnt to embrace the clash!
Yes! I love Colette patterns!
My style is quite eclectic, so I don’t have too much trouble mixing and matching accessories with me-mades.
I rarely wear jewelry and only have a couple of pair of shoes that I wear over and over again. I’m a jeans and t-shirt person, so I don’t accessorize. I’m hoping to one day sew some outfits for myself (I keep eyeing the Myrtle and Dahlia) and maybe finally develop some personal style. And wouldn’t that be a great excuse to buy some cute new shoes?
I never wear jewelry so I have no problem 🙂 and I only really wear a few pairs of shoes and they are all neutral.
Actually, it’s easier when I get to choose my own fabrics. 😉
It’s more that I’ve become lazy and just forget to put jewelry on. I think I need to pare down my selection to stuff I actually like.
Not really because I’m horrible with accessorizing! I do have a few dresses that call for fancier shoes than what I have at the moment, but most of what I sew works with boots, clogs or sandals. I usually accessorize with glasses (I have four pairs), and sometimes I’ll do my nails to match my outfit. I would like to get a sewing-themed pendant or charm bracelet, however!
I do, I do! I just bought two belts, so at least now I can try adding belts… >_<
Nope, I only wear three simple and rings everyday and MAYBE one of three necklaces that go with just about everything I own.
I’m better at it than I used to be, now I’m more intentional about thinking of my wardrobe as a whole unit.
No because I don’t wear much jewelry. I don’t have many shoes.
No….the things I make reflect my style and four it’d colours , so usually I have cardigans, scarves and Jew
Lery thT match
No…accessorizing is the best part!
I find accessorising fine but I hardly have any shoes! I tend to buy a pair at a time and wear them until they’re falling apart (much to the dismay of my other half!).
I love how a necklace can totally change an outfit!
I generally keep accessorizing to a minimum, and I have to say that I don’t have any more trouble accessorizing hand made garments than I do RTW.
I tend to wear Solid silver jewellery whatever my outfit is and generally black shoes – oh my god I’m boring!
Yyyep. I struggle with that, and have pretty much given up. So I have minimal minimal shoes and jewelry, just very basic ones that go with just about everything. And I usually skip the jewelry.
I really don’t put too much thought to accessories. I have a few basic pieces I wear over and over.
No, and I can’t figure out why I would! Seems that the point of making your own clothing is to be able to add to and build upon your own style. I love accessorizing.
I have a few classic pieces of jewelry that I find I can wear with most outfits. Shoes or sandals are either black or neutrals!
I have a difficult time accessorizing most things, or even matching clothes. I like dresses, no matching required. I’m loving neutrals.
I don’t, but mostly because I only have a couple pairs of shoes that go with everything (well, maybe not the red sparkly ballet flats) and I always wear the same jewelry.
I try to make new jewelry for most outfits I make!
I’m not your usual dress-up gal. I never wear jewelry — I’m very clutzy and jewelry and accessories always get tangled and caught on things … it’s not fun to be me. 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway — I’d love to try a Colette Pattern.
Not really. My new outfits tend to be in variations of my favourite colours so usually I have something suitable already.
I used to have such a great shoe wardrobe that it wasn’t ever a problem, but I don’t know what happened. Over the years my shoe collection has become pretty small and dull, so I find it really difficult lately. I must do something about that! 🙂
It’s not much of a problem as I keep my shoes quite basic and have fun with necklaces. Not super fancy, but it works for me.
I usually just stick with neutral shoes and jewelry that match most things
Easy question for me – I only have two pairs of “nice” shoes plus my work shoes, so the choice is usually pretty easy: brown or black. Jewelry is at a minimum too – just my wedding ring, which goes with everything, if I do say so myself!
I’m not a jewellery person… I have plenty, but I just usually wear one piece… My wedding eing. So that goes with everthing. I have a weakness for buying shoes so aside from a couple of colours, I have no issues there either!
Honestly, I have a hard time accessorizing beyond earrings for all clothes, not just my sewn stuff. Maybe someday I’ll learn…
Accessories? What are they?
Shoes is always difficult for me as I wear a hard to find size! thank you!
Shoes yes, jewelry no.
Shoes are not a hard decision for me because I only have about five pairs, not including my tennis shoes. I tend to have difficulties with jewelry as I do not know where to purchase pieces that coordinate with my vintage inspired outfits.
AKA Nancy. I wish I were better. I have sister who packs complete outfits when she travels – everything coordinated beautifully!
I would love to try making these patterns. I’ve been quilting for years, but have just started garment sewing. These would be wonderful to try out.
Love Colette patterns!
Not right now! All I wear is flip flops…
Man, I really do have difficulty with this. Especially jewellery – I barely ever wear any, except one small pendant. The problem with shoes, though, is that you can’t just decide not to wear them…
Sometimes my love of prints clashes with my love of big, loud jewelry and it’s too much, so I mostly wear simple jewelry now that I wear a lot clothes I’ve made.
I feel like my jewelry is too demure, but fits the corporate clothes I wear. If I wear something a little flashy, I am questioned about a hot date or happy hour.
Yes! I have a hard time
Yes, I never know what kind of jewelry to wear. Would love to read a blog post about it somewhere.
I never have a problem accessorizing shoes. Jewelry can be difficult – too minimal or too flashy can take over the outfit!
Since I only wear vans it can sometimes be hard to wear shoes that look good with my handmade stuff.
Yes! I need more shoes but trying to find comfortable at a reasonable price is not always easy for me!
I always wear the same jewelry, and shoes aren’t a problem- I have too many. 🙂
I hardly wear any jewelry. If I do, it is very simple and minimalistic, so it goes with almost everything!
I tend to favor neutrals, so no.
I try to wear jewelry that goes with my outfit, but I use the same ole purse everyday. And shoes are a big problem. I’ve had 4 surgeries on one foot and now I can’t find anything to fit, so I wear the same ratty pair everyday. I don’t know what I’m going to do when they wear out. I really like the patterns in this post and am enjoying the Dress UP Party. Thank you
I don’t wear a lot of jewelry and I try to buy shoes that will work with lots of styles.
Hmm, not jewelry and whatnot, but shoes, yes I do, actually!
Not really because I haven’t made anything much yet. I would have more of a hard time with shoes than jewelry just because I don’t like things to match too much, so I wear what I want. Shoes though. Sometimes a lack of the right shoes can kill an outfit.
I do have that problem now because I just moved overseas and only brought a few shoes and accessories wih me
No. My style is pretty simple so they all go together easily
No, not really.
No, I don’t have a problem!
I never wear jewellery, really (apart from wedding rings), so that’s not a problem at all 😉
I have an easier time with jewelry than with shoes.
I like to keep all my jewelry and shoes very simple. Then there isn’t too much to think about when I’m getting dressed. 🙂
Not usually but probably because I have so many shoes and i rarely change my other accessories
I have trouble accessorizing any outfit, handmade or not. I don’t change out necklaces or rings – only earrings. I wish I was more daring, but I am a stick-in-the-mud jewelry person. Thanks!
I’m okay picking out shoes, but I’m awful at picking jewelry. So I just don’t wear any!
Usually I’m ending up making my iwn clay jewelry. Classic shoes doing a great job when it comes to choose which…
I make jewelry as well so I hope I don’t have problems. Well, the shoes… yea… 🙂
Thanks for the chance to win – I’ve always wanted to try a Colette pattern 🙂 I tend to make clothes out of patterned fabrics so sometimes have to team them with understated shoes/accessories – unless I’m in a crazy mood 🙂
Well… As I have quite a few pairs of shoes, and I keep buying earrings all the time, I must say I don’t have a hard time accessorizing me-made garments… oops? Haha
I tend to keep things in the same few color ranges, everything kinda matches.
I am a simple jewelry person, so its not too bad!
Accessorizing is half the fun!
Jewelry I keep pretty plain, but I do have a hard time figuring out accessory pieces to give my basic wardrobe more flexibility. I always admire how people do capsule wardrobes with accessories that extend the combinations.
I have some trouble matching brightly colored bottoms I’ve sewn with tops. Hasn’t stopped me from buying the bright fabric though. Practice makes perfect?
Nope, not at all! I have a hard time sometimes matching clothes though, as I tend to sew with lots of colours and prints and end up with heaps of ‘statement’ pieces, whoops! 😉
Not a problem for me. I do have trouble finding a top to match with my skirts though…
I am pretty basic- jewelry is a rarity for me. I do love admiring pretty shoes, but my budget doesn’t always allow for much more than that!
accessorizing isn’t a problem. I have a large collection to pick from, there’s always something to match or contrast nicely.
Yes! Fashion is not my strong suit and accessories are probably my worst!
My accessories and shoes are mostly neutral so I don’t have problems using them with my sewn garments.
I like go chose shoes to combine Ith my garments.. I’m a shoe addict..
No, I tend to gravitate toward neutrals in both (and I don’t really wear jewelry anyway!).
My shoes are all basic styles with neutral colors, so no problem there. As for jewelry, when the clothes are detailed the jewelry is simple. When the clothes are simple I can go to town with the jewelry.
I don’t accessorise much so no, no trouble at all. 😉
I like to pick solid fun jewelry if my fabric is crazy. That way the jewelry can standout. Sometimes I think the clothes look so nice that jewelry can take away from it and then I just don’t wear any at all.
I’d love to make my husband a negroni!
