¡Hola! I’m María from Spain and I’m reviewing The Pocket Clutch from Michelle Patterns. It’s my first time joining the Purse Palooza.
I’ve chosen this pattern because I find it as a quick project to make and it doesn’t take too much fabric. And therefore, you can sew this clutch to give it as a gift when you’re in a hurry, because it takes a couple hours to be made. This clutch is perfect size for carrying your keys and phone. Finished dimensions are 4” high x 6” wide (10cm x 17cm).
The PDF pattern includes 6 pages of sewing instructions, plus two more pages with pattern pieces. The pattern has ten main steps, each one has a clarifying illustration to help you.
This pattern has four pieces in just one size, I would have liked more sizes because for me it’s a little small (I always carry lot of things with me).
As it’s written on the instructions, I used ¼ yard for exterior fabric and ¼ yard for the lining. It also recommends fusible interfacing and cotton batting. I like that the closure flaps closes with a magnetic snap, and for the exterior you can make it nicer adding a button in the exterior of the flap (next time I will add it one).
The only difficulty that you can find sewing this clutch is to get perfect curves, but with patience you can handle it.
I would recommend this pattern because it is well-written and steps are very easy to follow, and, what’s more, it can be made by any level sewer.
Finally, I want to thank Sara for letting me being part of Purse Palooza.
What a beautiful little clutch! This just begs to be embellished and let the personality of its owner shine thru…
Michelle’s Patterns are very nice and straight forward. I think I’ve got all her designs!
