Today’s lucky winner will receive 4 pdf patterns of their choice! Choose from some of Vanessa’s amazing designs like:
The Abby Tote
This tote is the carry all tote, it’s large enough to carry your towel and sunscreen to the beach, pool, or lake, it’s large enough to carry all your fresh produce from your farmer’s market, or heck just keep all the stuff you need in one handy bag. The best part is this bag is reversible, and the bow doubles up as a light scarf just in case your activities run into the early evening!
The Hampton Weekend Bag
This large hobo style tote is soon to be a favorite overnight or gym bag! It’s crisp lines and generous size make it perfect to carry around everything you could need and more!
The Favorite Bag
This bag is the perfect bag. it’s the perfect size, it’s got the perfect length in strap, it’s hip, and it’s functional. The adorable flower accent is such a sweet feminine touch and is great for adding a contrasting fabric to your bag!
The more zippered pockets,,,the better!
I’d like to add both inside and outside zippered pockets.
Pockets and zippers are what I like!!
The more organization the purse offers, the better for me.
Yes, I too like zippered pockets. thanks, kathy
I like pen pockets and pockets with magnetic closures.
I’m always adding zippered pockets and I love an old ornate pin on the outside.
I always add more pockets; some zip, some not. That’s the fun of making your own bags — customization. Thanks for the giveaway!
I always add more pockets of all kinds, and sometimes I like to add extra hardware, like using d-rings or squared rings for the straps, etc.
I like to add big focus buttons. Thanks!
I add pockets and magnetic snap closures. I want to try adding some embroidery sometime.
I haven’t done much embellishment beyond zipper pockets and cute zipper pulls. I’d love to try some new things though. Vanessa’s patterns look so cute!
Zipper pockets! You can’t have enough.
Hmmmmm an accordion pocket?
Pockets pockets pockets !! 🙂 open pockets or zipper pockets.
extra pockets!
I like doing zippers, because I have gotten better at them! I would love to do bows and pleats if I knew how!! 🙂
Zips for me too….I like my valuables to be zipped away.
I like adding a fun button, or piecing the outer panel.
I love adding zippers. Hard ware like clips and swivels make bags have character.
Thnx for hosting. Mrscummings2u at Gmail dot com
I like to use fun hardware when I can find it…
I would like to learn how to make prairie points to jazz up a bag.
I was initially attracted to bag making as a canvas for machine embroidery.
Extra pockets and buttons.
I love the looks of these bags! When I make bags I always make sure to have plenty of pockets, zippered or not
I love pockets in my bags, lots of pockets!
I like pockets of all shapes and sizes especially with zippers to keep me organized.
Cording and hardware.
I like lots of pockets and hardware!
I only like embellishments that have a practical purpose such as zippers and pockets. I dislike bows or ruffles on a bag. Hardware is good if it has a purpose and is not just decorative. I guess for me, the decorative aspects are in the colors and fabrics chosen.
Lots of pockets and I love to embellish my plain totes with great belt buckle sashes using thrift store buckles.
I’m in!
I would like to add grommets. Something about that scares me a bit!
Woooohooo my kind of purse….love it
I like to add inside pockets & one w/zipper for sure. Added Buttons as embellishments…would love doing flowers like your Favorite Bag! Pretty!
I always put in an internal zipper and patch pocket. Sometimes I also put in a zipper pocket on the back outside. 🙂
Slip pockets, zipper pockets, machine embroidery, quilting and hardware!
If I felt confident, I would always add a zipper at the top. I also like hardware for the strap.
I always add clips to keep track of my car keys, but almost never use them! I still like the look. And I need lots of pockets and detachable handles.
zippers and buttons!!!!
I love it when I can see the bag with optional embellishments on the pattern or ideas how to embellish it! Thanks!
I always need pockets to keep things orgnized. 🙂
I always like to have zippered pockets in my bags to keep everything in its proper place. I also love to add “bling” to my bags – but I tend to save my shiny metal Handmade “labels” just for the really special bags since I’m on a tight budget. 🙂
I love zipper pockets, but also I’m a hardware hoarder 🙂 grommets, rivets, snap hooks on handles, purse locks fun fun fun 🙂
zippers and pockets
I usually add extra lines of stitching to the handles, but would like to add ruffles.
Mostly I add a lot of pockets, both at the inside and the outside.
I love her fabric and it would be fun to make one of her bag patterns out of her fabric.
As I never made any purse yet, I would love to make one of those beautiful bags. I love the 3 of them!!
I like to add pockets and if I am focused enough to figure it out I love adding zippers!
I love the tote bag! Thank you for sharing!
I like a zipper pocket just the right size for my phone
I would love to add ribbon and ric rac. Also, some buttons. I can’t wait to learn how to make these bags, they are so beautiful! Thanks for the giveaway!

I do like lots of pockets with zippers…I will use different fabrics to make the bag look different and pretty. Don’t really use a lot of other embellishments, I’m always afraid they will fall off.
I love pockets, zippered, gathered, elastic, gotta have lots of pockets. I don’t care for ruffles too much, but I love shiny hardware, especially something that says “handmade” or “handcrafted”.
I love zippered pockets, and maybe a gusseted pocket too!
I love to add extra pockets. So far, I’m really only comfortable with patch pockets but I would love to be able to add zippered welt ones.
I would love some zippers and a ribbon across the middle!
I’ve added all kinds of embellishments – ruffles, pleats, quilted panels, etc, etc. I *always* use rings to attach my handles because it adds a professional touch, and it’s easy to replace the handle if needed.
Hi! If I knew how (and you have totally inspired me to want to sew my own purse/s but I need some beginner patterns), I would want to have meaningful pocket and zippered areas that do not clutter the outside of the bag because I prefer a smoother look on the outside. Really, it seems that many of these pattern makers are on top of that, yay 🙂
I don’t usually change or add the same thing. Sometimes it’s more pockets, either on the outside or the inside. Or I’ll change the straps, making them longer or making them handles instead. I always change the kind of fabric or material to make the bag or purse. The hardware usually changes, too, depending on what I have on hand and/or who the bag or purse is intended for. I always make the bag or purse according to the pattern * the first time*. After that, all bets are off! 🙂
I like to add pockets and zippers even if the zipper really has no purpose.
I love that flower on the last bag and would add that if I knew how to make one.
I love using big statement buttons. They can really add a pop to a bag
I don’t really add a lot to my bags, I try to make the fabric do the talking, but I do like pockets and contrasting zip colors. Although I am loving seeing these bags with bows and flowers on them, but don’t think I could make them look as good
Extra pockets for sure. Some zippers too. Magnetic snaps are my friends!
Zipper pockets on the inside
I like a divider and pockets!
I wish zippers didn’t make me so nervous because I love them on bags!
I love to use zippers in contrasting colours as a highlight in the babe I make. Thanks for the giveaway.
I would like to add piping to my bags.
Zippers and decorative buttons, sometimes a piping.
Zippered pockets!
I usually add an inside zippered pocket. I would like to attempt to add piping detail
Oh Kim, if you’d like a very cool bag design with piping, do try out Sara’s latest Rockstar bag! I just started last night and got the pining made by myself and installed. Sara has a great tutorial for making piping and the instructions for installing it on the Rockstar are so simply laid out! It was sooooooo easy! I can’t believe I avoided piping all this time.
I love to put zippers on my purses but my daughter likes bows.
I love to put zippers!
Such awesome bags!!!
Zippers and pockets, would like to add some elastic pockets, but haven’t tried to do them yet.
Zippered closing for top of bag, inside zippered pockets, and outside zippered pockets!
I like the Favorite Bag because I like to embellish with fllowers.
Pockets! And interesting straps and quilting
Pockets! Always
I like to add a zipper pull. It makes it easier to pull the zipper open and adds something cute. I bought a lot at a store for 50% off to keep on hand. Mostly, initials, but other items, too. I attach the ring around a small lobster claw clasp and then attach the clasp on the hole of the zipper.
Thanks for the generous giveaway! I’ve made the Hampton weekend bag which was super-easy & turned out just perfectly.
i add embroidery and pockets
I love pockets, and especially ones with zippers. I also like some well place buttons, and some fancy hardware for the handles.
Zippered pockets!
Gotta have pockets and zippers!
I love adding embroidery to the outside of my purses, and lots of pockets!
The more zippered pockets, the better! I love magnetic snap closures!
Zippered pockets and a magnetic snap closure pocket on the outside. 🙂
When I make bags I include some sort of pocket and some extra embellishments like sequins. I like sparkles.
Each bag I make has at least two zipper pockets, one inside and one outside, and I like to make pull tabs for my zippers.
For embellishments, I love grommets and rivets because they are so easy to use and come in a wide variety of designs. I Conquered my first ever piping on the Rockstar bag last night, so I can cross that off (thanks for the great tutorial and pattern instructions Sara!). As for embellishments I would add if I knew how? Hmmm..I’d really like to add a “?facing?”‘ Piece around my zippered pockets…and have it look good. Mine are pretty crappy looking when I try. Ruffles would be a neat skill to learn.
Oh yes…and pockets on the gussets! Sometimes a sip, but often a toggle (not a fan of elastic…looks too much like a baby sack)…and I often change out the zipper head so the head is a contrasting color with the zip.
It depends on what I am sewing for, I do like to add a zippered pocket if there isn’t one in the pattern.
I like lots of pockets, one has to be zippered and if there is a divider…awesome. I also really love patterns that give you options/alternatives, such as handles, pockets….
I’ve been fond of fabric flowers for the last while 🙂
Neat ruffles, grommets, layered sections/pockets [I’m so stinkin’ functional, but I like visual interest too] with multiple prints, some finished non-fabric element.
Definitely zips and pockets! Love using completely different fabric especially wool 🙂
I’ve added fabric flowes, lace and even pockets with lace zips to embellish my bags 🙂
I would like to add buttons, once I learn how to make bags!
I like adding zipper pockets. Cute patterns!
I haven’t made any bags yet, but I’d probably add a zip pocket.
Zippers and lots of pockets
