pursepalooza2014

This post is part of Purse Palooza 2014. For contest rules, full details, and schedule, please click here!

Today’s giveaway sponsor is Kay Whitt of Serendipity Studios, a talented designer specializing in bag, clothing and accessory patterns.

One lucky winner will receive: the book Sew Serendipity Bags, the Madison, Lola and Bijou patterns and the Zip to It! booklet
This book has full instructions for 12 different bags, as well as several variations that allow for 20 different bags!! There is a technique section to help you develop your bag making skills along the way as well as step by step photos that guide you along the way. There are bags designed for beginners, intermediate and advanced sewists so there is something for everyone!

The Madison Wallet Bag is a fabulous 2 in 1 style handbag. With it’s beatiful rounded flap, back zipper, swivel hook handle, this gorgeous bag is perfect on it’s own and gets even better when you open it up to reveal the wallet inside. The wallet is built into the front of this bag as a separate flap which can hold your ID and other cards for easy access , making this the perfect on-the-go all-in-one handbag!

The Lola handbag is one of the neatest forms I’ve seen for a handbag. I love the circular handles at the top and the great options for bag design ranging from plain, pleated or even pieced. A great size with fantastic storage options, this lovely bag even comes with directions for a decorative scarf!
The Bijou travel trio is one of my personal favorites and it’s easy to see why! It is three patterns in one and I love the rounded shape of this bag and all the storage that it provides. There is a large exterior pocket as well as a zippered pocket on the inside to secure all your travel essentials in style. All of these bags are perfect for travel and fit nicely into small spaces (like under the seat of an airplane).
Zip to it! Is a 28 page mini book featuring a collection of accessories perfect for electronic gadgets, craft & sewing projects and more! Each project features easy to install zippers with adorable ruched detailing to tie the collection together.

A few years ago I purhcased a closure for a carpet bag style bag. Two long poles on hinges, I can’t even think of the name of them now. Every year as fall draws near I want to try and use those in a carpet bag pattern but am afraid!! Lol. That sounds silly as I am typing this, but it’s true. I make a new bag or more almost every week! Not sure why I haven’t tackled this yet. Guess I haven’t found anything to help me with this yet! 🙂

I love these patterns – especially the Madison bag: it’s such an inspired resolution to organizing all the things we ‘need’ to carry in a stylish, compact design!…. I haven’t tried exposed zippers pockets yet, but I think adding extra pockets to a simple bag would be a great way of providing extra secure storage – so it’s something I *really* want to master…

I would like to try installing a twist lock – have not done that yet.

  83. SonJa says:

Purse hardware? Well, I’ve used rivets and grommets for decoration, but I’m currently searching for rivets that are stout enough to use to attach leather or even fabric handles. I’d like to try using them for attachment instead of having to sew them on, especially the leather and suede handles as there is so much machine swap over just for stitching handles!
