Today’s giveaway sponsor is Clover and Violet. Clover and Violet is a mother-daughter team who love to sew, quilt, and embroider. We started Clover & Violet in 2009 as a little shop to sell handmade baby items. Though some twists and turns we have found ourselves designing patchwork bags and embroidery quilts!
One lucky winner will receive 4 PDF patterns of their choice from Clover and Violet!
Some of their patterns include:
The Stella Diaper bag is shaped like a traditional diaper bag, but not lacking in style! The sides are adjustable to make the bag a little more roomy, or keep it smaller. Amply sized to hold all your needs, it would make an travel, market, commuter, or carry-all bag too. The outside features six large quilted pockets. The inside features two medium pockets and a cell phone pocket. A magnetic closure keeps your belongings protected yet easily accessible.
The Sophie beach bag is perfect for all your summer {or year round} needs. It is generously sided to accommodate two or more beach towels. Made out of a natural looking fabric with bright inset pinwheels, it is sure to grab attention. It features a removable inside pouch for those small things that would otherwise get lost in this roomy bag. It is also fully reversible. A large fabric covered button and loop keep things secured but easily accessible.
This lovely diaper bag is all sweetness and charm (charm squares that is). It features a lovely quilted front and back and a side gusset out of a coordinating fabric. The gusset has ties on the side so you can take it in if you’re not carrying as much, or let it out for extra room. The sides also feature two roomie pockets for bottles, keys or anything you reach for often. Inside you’ll find two large pockets and one smaller pocket or optional inside zipper pocket, perfect for organizing all your {or your baby’s} things.
Those bags are sooo adorable! My favorite Halloween costume as a child would have to be dressing up as a can can girl! My mom made stunning can can dresses for both my friend and I!
It’s hard to pick a favorite costume. My mom always made ours, which was a big job since we had 5 kids in our family. Most of the costumes are still around and used as dress up clothes by all the grandkids. I love that they were made to last.
I think my favorite costume was a tiger! My sister and I both wore it for several years, even though it was clearly too small after the first year or two.
It was a pumpkin that my sister made for me. Big and round and bright orange. The only problem with it was that she forgot to make a place so that I could put my arms out so that I could carry my trick or treat bag.. So, a little redesigning and I had the perfect costume.
oh, childhood, perhaps it was wearing one of my mothers aprons,,,,,boy did I get in trouble for wearing that……did not ask to use…..I now have those aprons on my sewing room walls, along with her table dollies……..
I was a witch several times. I can remember when I was 5 my mom did my make up to look like the wicked witch from wizard of oz and I burst into tears when I saw myself in the mirror bc
It was so realistic!
We don’t have Halloween in Spain, but we have a festivity in February/March where we put costumes on. I love my cowgirl costume form where I was six, and now I am 40. Great memories.
There was never a lot of money in our household growing up. One of my favorites was decorating paper grocery bags with crayons. Then my dad helped us cut out eyes and mouth. We only went to a few houses on our block but now I wonder what those people thought when they answered the door. Our neighbors were all elderly grandparent types.
When I was a kid we always had lame Halloween costumes — just whatever we could pull together at the last minute — I think “hobo” was our most popular option. Maybe to make up for that, I always made fun costumes for my son. One favorite of his was a Swedish Fish costume. He was in high school and was 6’6″ by that time so he was perhaps the biggest candy fish ever!
My parents weren’t big on Halloween or any holiday. My memorable costume that I made for myself at 10 years old was a hobo. I even had a stick with a bandanna pouch on it! 🙂
i don’t really remember much about my childhood but i want to say i got really excited about dressing up from the 50s so my mom made me a poodle skirt and we got saddle shoes
My best friend and I used to dress up as hobos. If you cinch the ankles of really big baggy pants you can use the pants as your trick or treat candy bag!
Hmm. Favorite costume as a child. I was a child in the 60’s, before there were costume shops. My mother sewed all of them, and I think I was a princess quite a few years, but I think I liked the cheerleader costume the best. Who doesn’t want to be the most popular girl on campus?!! Thanks for the giveaway.
I was a butterfly with cardboard wings painted by my Dad a few years in a row (my choice!). Loved that costume- I laughed a little when my daughter told me she wanted to wear her butterfly costume from last year- she has since decided to be a fairy this year. Must be something about wings in this family!
The 1 that sticks out the most in my memory is the time I was a bunch of purple grapes. I wore a black sweat shirt and black sweat pants, then attatched purple balloons all over my torso, front and back, for the grapes. I have no idea how my mother got those balloons to stick to me!
From someone who has carried a diaper bag around constantly for the past 13 years (I have 8 children with #9 on their way!), I really like those diaper bags!! I don’t think I could pick a favorite. I sure hope I win, for then I don’t have to! 🙂
I don’t remember many costumes…lived in a rural area where we sometimes trick or treated on horseback…but I do remember my mom helping me dress up in a gypsy costume made from old clothes she had saved. I was about 12 or so and thought I was an amazing gypsy, tee hee. Love the patterns.
My best friend and I dressed up as a little old man and woman one year – I was the man, complete with mascara mustache. That’s my favorite Halloween childhood picture.
I was a MOnarch Butterfly made by mom. Painted cardboard wings, blocks leotard and leggings, pipe cleaners antena and a block eye mask – I LOVED that costume!!!
We were never big on Halloween but I remember one year Dad made me a witch costume, painted my face green and used some weird fake skin stuff for face warts and made a long pointy nose..pretty sure the nose fell off somewhere along the route 😛
We never really had Halloween, but I remember being totally jealous of a costume my mum made my sister for a party. It was Sour Grapes from Strawberry Shortcake and was awesome
I was a flapper for one halloween in elementary school. I felt so glamorous and fancy.
In hindsight, I would never allow my daughter to dress in a costume like that and wonder what kind of parents did I have that had allowed me to. lol.
My favorite Halloween costume was a princess — not quite as ornate as today’s princess costumes, but nevertheless my mom’s handiwork made me feel pretty at least for that one day.
I was a kid many, many, years ago and costumes from Woolworth’s or Kresge were the order of the day. One of my all time favorites was Casper the Friendly Ghost!
My grandma used to make me costumes when I was growing up and they were the BEST! One year I was a 50’s girl with the most amazing poodle skirt and puffy sleeved shirt. My initials are MM so I was an M&M one year too. Buuuuuut, my absolute favorite was the year that I was Esmeralda from the Hunch Back of Notre Dame!
My favorite costume was actually my son’s…his idea was to be moldy bread. I designed a huge slice of bread out of felt and sponged part of it with army green paint. Wish I could post a picture!
We didn’t do halloween back in my hometown in indonesia. But if i di have a chance to wear costum, probably i’d choose a fairy (girly sweet) or a cool witch 😉

I don’t remember a favorite costume–but I sure remember the year our young aunt dressed up as a witch, complete with green face and a warty, hooked nose! We thought she was amazing, but also expected her to do wonderful things for the kids because she was like that all the time. Now, as an adult, I realize how much effort and energy she put into making memories with her nieces and nephew and am amazed by her.
