Today’s giveaway is sponsored by Emma Brennan of Charlie’s Aunt, who designs an array of vintage “make due and mend” inspired sewing patterns for accessories and bags. Many of her bag patterns include instructions for trims, such as rose corsages and/or stitched badges that can be used in a variety of ways. She has a flair for taking classic bag styles and adding vintage design elements to make them pop!

One lucky winner will receive 6 pdf patterns of their choice. With so many awesome patterns to pick from narrowing it down to six might be hard!
This satchel has such a unique shape and style, the asymmetrical flap is such an awesome design feature.

The Casablanca Clutch is an oversized clutch that, like all of Emma’s bag has fun design features that stand out.
The Dorothy Clutch is a classic clutch pattern that gives you variety in adding design elements to your bag. You can choose from a bow or directions are included to make that beautiful cabbage rose style trim.
The Melford Messenger is another example of how Emma pulls together vintage elements and unique design features to make classic bag patterns stand out on their own.

    Moslty I use what I guess is Quilting Cotton in the US. Sometimes I like to use sturdier home deco weight, especially for like Travel Bags.

    I love the colors of quilting cotton, the weight of home decor, the look of faux leather and now I’m having fun with quilted rubber, definitely making a funky bag with that one 🙂 Guess I let the design of the bag dictate my favorite fabric choice.

I was just given a bunch of Sarees complete with bright colors and fancy beadwork. Not sure what to make with those. Any ideas?

    I love these!! I like to use either up cycled men’s wool coat fabric or bright upholstery (heavy cotton usually) when I make any type of bag. I love the detailing on her patterns and would love to win a pattern to play with and sew up for Christmas presents.

    I’ve only made zipper pouches so far. I let my kids go through all my quilting fabric and pick combinations of main fabric and lining fabric for each of their cousins. It was fun to do and after making 10, I think I can do zippers! I’m ready to try a bag for myself. Thanks for this blog series, it’s already getting me excited to make my next project!

  81. I primarily use quilting cottons, but have some lovely lighter weight upholstery fabrics that I plan to use very soon. I also have some lovely wool that I originally bought to make clothing, but after seeing some of the patterns done in wool, plan to try that soon.

    I base my bag making materials on bag style. I use a lot of quilters cotton with SF101 doubled, however, some bags look best in wool. I have recently started using suede and thin leather. I’ve made the clutch by Charlie’s Aunt and it is exquisite in wool!
