Hi there! Faith from Fresh Lemons Quilts here. I’m so happy to be with you today to share my project from Angela Pingel’s new book, A Quilter’s Mixology.

I first saw A Quilter’s Mixology last Spring at Quilt Market in Pittsburgh. I was completely blown away by the projects and level of detail in the instructions. I will admit, I am a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to sewing curves. But Angela’s directions and templates made it very easy for me to come away with a successful project and added confidence.

My project from the book was Angela’s Petal Pusher quilt. For those that are a little afraid of curves like me, this is a great place to start. There really aren’t that many curves in each block. Plus, the blocks are super sized (24” each!), so you don’t have to make as many to get a nice sized quilt.

I really love how in Angela’s sample in the book, she used a directional fabric. I decided to follow her example and used several directional prints from the latest Cotton + Steel fabrics.

Love these arrows!

I haven’t quilted this one yet, but I’m planning on doing some (probably vertical) straight lines. My daughter has already claimed this quilt because she loves the “cat fabric” so much (the tigers).

I definitely recommend going to your local quilt shop or bookstore to check out A Quilter’s Mixology. I’m sure you will leave with book in hand, very inspired and ready to tackle curves.
